Meadowvale

We were excited to be moving to a school that had a high rating. Our previous school was 4 out of 10. Higher score must mean better school, right? Nope. This school is a perfect example of "teaching to the test." My son already knows how to do multiplication and division but was forced to go back and "relearn" the way the teacher was teaching. At the parent-teacher conference I was shown worksheets that "proved" my son didn't know multiplication/division. I felt they were trying to convince me that my son was lagging because he didn't know their way of teaching math. I was asked if he had made any friends. You, as the teacher, should have a better idea of if he is fitting in than me. You see him all day! She could provide no insight whatsoever. They have him doing busywork while everyone else is doing lexia. He finished last year. They don't know what to do with someone who is beyond the scope of the lesson plan.There was an emergency and school was canceled one day. Doors were locked, no note saying what happened or that the school was closed. Apparently there was a list you needed to be on to get helpful information like that. We were not included. The entire school went on a field trip to see a play. No mention of a field trip at all. The Positive: The building is wonderfully new. Very fancy with all the trimmings. Computers in every class, it seems. All in all, I am looking forward to moving again.

The rankings I provided were based on our Children's experience pre-2023.Has it occurred to anyone that the Reviews for this School are from 2012 to 2019 roughly when the past Head of School was there -- since then the Head of School who succeeded them was fired within 8 months of their arrival and an interim Head of School was installed this year who apparently did not accept the position after multiple initial requests and finally succumbed. No search for a new Head is being communicated.We are watching the demise of a once wonderful school for children due to misguided and indulgent Board Leadership - their Lack of Vision and not longer staying true to the unique and separate path Pine Cobble School has walked fearlessly for so many years. How many students have left or not returned this year? How many good teachers have decided they can no longer stay and have then left. Who is actually suffering as a result?The children - past, current and future.Attitude reflects Leadership and Leadership ultimately comes from the Board President and the Head of the School.Something needs to change and those on the Board should resign and begin anew with people who possess a belief and passion for educating our young people and do in fact love Pine Cobble School for what it has been, was and can always be.There is a story here which hopefully is pursued by many among us who seek the truth to keep this from happening.
