"Private schools are superior to the City of Boston public schools. Children can walk to a private school. Public school children are bussed to the other side of the city. "

"Everyone loves the beach and Dorchester Heights for sunset views of the Boston Skyline so people gather in groups with their family, friends, dogs etc. to party, socialize, run, do yoga, etc. And the adult beverages are plentiful (a little too plentiful, but you get it)."

"the East side of south Boston (city point) offers the best if everything. There are numerous parks and playgrounds, beaches for both families and singles, beautiful running loop around castle island, fantastic schools (south Boston catholic and the Perry), easy commutes to down town visiting with public transportation, short walk to restaurants, boutiques and the seaport. There are a ton of family friendly activities (huge Easter egg hunt, family funday, Christmas tree lighting at M street park with Santa clause, and the st. Patrick’s day parade. The church is right there as well and the community offers the countries largest moms club! It truly is a gem for families."

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school when I was living in South Boston. I experienced a lot of discrimination and looking back I am still affected by it. I still remember I kept raising my hand so I can go to the bathroom but the teacher ignored me until I peed in my pants. What kind of teachers would do that to a kid? They also kept me back in kindergarten saying I have a learning disability when it was because I was shy to speak up. There was a teacher that forced me to put my crayons away because I wasn't sharing them. If you love your kids, don't let them go to this school. If you want to witness the existence of racism and traumatize your kids, let them go to this school.Parent Review2y ago - Joseph P. Tynan Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe Tynan is an amazing school with dedicated teachers and faculty. It is diverse, ethnically and economically, which is a huge strength for the kids as they play and learn together. The teachers are of the highest caliber and the student to teacher ratio is low. Low test scores can almost certainly be attributable to children who are learning English and/ or those who have learning disabilities. And I am so glad my children are learning alongside them.Parent Review2y ago - Perkins Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've had a child at SBCA since 2014, and I'm very happy with the school. The classroom sizes are small so that each child gets the attention that they need, and the extra curricular activities (pre-Covid, of course) are great. They offer excellent summer camp options and you won't find a more passionate and involved group of parents. We do not live in South Boston but we make the drive because it is worth it. I do wish there wasn't such high turnover with teaching staff, only because we fall in love with every teacher that our children have and it's sad to see them go.Parent Review2y ago - St. Mary School
