5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI will start with the positives, my child who attends here has had great teachers who really seem to care about my child's education. The concerns I have are with Boone County as whole. This year my child has been experiencing bullying issues while in the classroom and the bus. My child has been coming home daily very distraught and cries that they don't want to go to school because they dont feel safe. The school is trying their best with the limited resources they have. However, I feel that the county could provide better support.. especially on the bus. There are serious safety concerns my child has experienced on the bus that have been going on all of this school year that have not been resolved. This includes being depanted on the bus, pushed, name called and more. Due to the schools limited resources, I felt that this should be escalated to actually resolve the issue. When talking to the superintendent's office, I spoke with Jamie. She advised that the bus is a luxury and I should provide transportation if I don't like it. She stated the school had no responsibilty to the action of the children on the bus and that this was at the parents discretion to handle. It is not that my child doesn't enjoy the bus, it is that there are constant physical safety concerns. And its very alarming that the school holds no credibility for the safety of our children during school hours while on the bus, and are not provided enough resources to control the reckless behavior of other students during school hours. This problem does not stop at the bus. My child has also been bullied during school hours. We have encountered multiple situations resulting in calls from the nurse to alert me what had happened to him while under the schools care.It is really infuriating that the district does not provide additional support such as a bus monitor for problematic busses, and are improperly staffed to care for the concerns during school hours as well.Jamie did do me a "favor" and called me back to let me know that I could pay out of pocket for a daycare bus service if I felt it was needed. Shame on Boone County for not doing better for their students!Parent Review2mo ago12 Reviews - Ockerman Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have a kindergartner and so far I and my husband absolutely love Ockerman. It really is an amazing school. Wonderful teachers and staff, curriculum that challenges my child academically and teaches him life lessons at the same time. They offer programs for advid readers and many more. They offer karate and ballet and have a wonderful library. Really just a phenomenal school.Parent Review10y ago6 Reviews - Hillard Collins Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is a wonderful school. Every adult in the school knows my child, and knows if something is off they can call me. My daughter didn't feel challenged with certain areas in class, and she was given different work to challenge her. There is no excessive bullying in her class, the kids tend to stand up for one another. There might be low testing, but I am not worried about it. If a child wants to learn, they will find ways to learn. Learning doesn't stop in the classroom. The parents need to continue it at home. I have been in contact with my daughter's teachers weekly to make sure she is on track, and to find out what we need to work on at home. The diversity is wonderful! My daughter has learned about different cultures, and because of that is more tolerant when someone is different from her. With the way the world is today, we need to teach our children more tolerance, and this school does that. This school has been absolutely wonderful about making sure my daughter receives the education that she needs. They have also help create wonderful memories that we will both carry for the rest of our lives. Most people that have problems with this school don't like the rules that they instill and expect from our children, or don't take an interest in the children's learning after school is out. Any time I have any issue, no matter how small, the school has been willing to help in any way possible. I wouldn't take my child out of this school for anything.Parent Review7y ago13 Reviews - Beechgrove Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers at this school are amazing. However, the administration and Family resource coordinator:Julia Goodman should be reevaluated she has her favorite families and only helps the ones who benefit her. It’s sad because living in the community and having children graduate from this school, kicking them out of programs while allowing others to participate is pure favoritism.Parent Review1y ago6 Reviews - Zion Christian Academy
