This school allows parents to drop their students to pick up and drop off their kids while sitting in the middle of the road holding up traffic. There is a drop lane at the school with two lanes and parents are too lazy and impatient to utilize it. I blame the school Administrators for the entire issue. There have been a couple of incidents where students were hit by cars, parents reckless driving. It needs to stop and no one chooses to do Anya out it. There aren’t any signs ot cross walks where kids are picked up and dropped off in supervised at times.

FIVE STARS... I have three children that have and/or is attending Roberta T Smith Elementary School (RTSE). One child is in the 6th grade/promoted to the 7th grade. The second child will be attending the 6th grade this upcoming 2020/2021 school year. The third child will be in the 4th grade this upcoming 2020/2021 school year at RTSE. All of my children have attended RTSE since the kindergarten. All of my children have done well. The leadership has always had high expectations of the teachers, students, parents and community partners. I know by what I have been involved in, seen with my own eyes and experienced that I could not have enrolled my three children to a better school. My two older children are attending Elite Scholars Academy and my last child participates in the GIFTED Program at RTSE. Now, they are special but no special than any other children. However, because they attended RTSE they have received a great start to their education.

We moved to Georgia from Michigan and I am very pleased with this school. My daughter teacher is Mr. Thigpen and he is amazing. Very patient and kind and specializes in working with gifted and advanced students! Parent liaison Ms. Volley is always available for resources I can use at home to help my child, and shes really friendly. The leaders of the school set the tone. The Principal keeps parents informed of changes and things we can do at home to help the students. She is really vested in the school and her passion shows! Same goes for the Assistant Principal.

Don’t know where to start horrible school. Bad decision all around do not send your children here!

My child enjoyed attending Kay Pace SOTA. I was heavily involved just as much as she was. They push the scholars very hard to the point I had to put my child in therapy for anxiety. Some days we couldn’t catch a break. Tutoring is a must if you want your child to stay ahead, because the teachers are teaching by the book. Some will give too much unnecessary homework that has nothing to do with classwork. As for the clubs, it’s who you know here. They will hold auditions for certain clubs but the opportunity is limited. It’s like a popularity contest. I don’t feel that teachers and counselors reprimand scholars fairly because when I will bring issues up about bullying it always seemed to get brushed under the rug or the finger was pointed back at my child. Therefore, keep a paper tail. I notice scholars whose parents work for the district are disciplined differently than those without parents who don’t work for school. Same goes for club auditions and sport tryouts. I’ve seen coaches put their own kids on team. After Dr. Jackson left, student and parent engagement has improved tremendously. Dr. Buddy really puts a lot of effort to make school feel welcoming. Overall, the school does challenge the scholars, but communication between teachers and parents needs critical improvement.
