My son studied there and he likes his school and the teachers who taught him were very good

The school was ok when my kids were younger, the teachers were supportive and the classrooms felts safe. Now that they are older we deal with bullying issues constantly and I do not see where the kids are being reprimanded because they continue to bully other kids. The environment feels like the teachers are stressed out and do not want to be there. Now there are a few teachers that are really good at what they do but not enough for me to recommend the school as a whole. Some of the teachers are really rude and do not know how to talk to children in a way that is not demeaning. I do not think this is an isolated issue that is unique to Flat Shoals. The middle schools in Conyers have some of the same issues. I am truly considering an affordable private school option.

My daughter has gone there for 2 years (pre-k and is now finishing up 1st grade). She has been bullied and beat up on SEVERAL occasions and even though their school says they have a “no bullying” policy, nothing has been done to prevent it nor have the kids gotten in trouble. My daughter defended herself by slapping a child back and was suspended off the bus, and iss for 2 days. The other kid got no punishment. She was repeatedly beat up by a 5th grader and nothing was done. She was kicked repeatedly and they were only separated and no other punishment happened for the kid who kicked her repeatedly. They have “lost” my child atleast 6 times in the past 2 years. This school is careless and should not be open! It has gotten to the point where my child will not return next year even if i have to homeschool! My child used to love learning and loved school and since being in this school has started to BEG not to go to school and has also started to not trust teachers and staff to protect her! I do NOT recommend putting your children in this school!!!

I totally agree with the past two comments below, it's crazy I've found these comments online, and my complaints are the exact same! They are totally telling the truth, and so glad our change has come, all I have to say is "parents" please be involved with your child while attending there! So horrible, and I agree to it as the worst!!! Looking at the schools statistics was enough that shocked me! And please know the extra support a child may need while attending this school....search elsewhere because it's not there, and it's sad! Never experienced 90% of the staff so unprofessional working within the school system!

I use to like this school but it's too much bullying from children and not enough consequences behind it. My child can't defend herself physically if she gets hit first is their rule. When she does defend herself everytime she gets in more trouble than the person bullying her. Communication is bad as well except if you have a teacher that agrees with communication is key as well. Their should be more meetings about bullying and make sure parents are aware of what their children are doing at all times.

Allowing my children to attend YACS was not a positive experience. From day 1 I witnessed my children’s decline. Both of my kids were straight A students, & my son was testing 4 grades above average prior to attending this school. I was constantly having to point out improperly graded papers and inquire why 15 points were taken off for a missing name instead of the 5 that was mentioned in the syllabus. After 3 years both children were placed in fundamental/remedial classes, & my son whom was high spirited & outgoing became reclusive & lacking confidence was testing 3 levels below his grade average. I witnessed teachers single him out & recommend I have him put on medication for hyperactivity. I have removed my children for a year & now both of them are academically back ahead of the game testing levels above their grade level. I felt as though the school administrators were too focused on praying about standing for the American flag & inserting their political views into prayer when they should’ve been more focused on teaching our children to kneel before Christ. I prefer my children attend a school that values social & economical differences & values differences. I felt the school was clique-ish and allowed way too much bullying. Both of my children now require physiological counseling from the prejudices they experienced while attending YACS. If you are a person of color and feel like a project make sure you’re volunteering every chance you can & stay on the teachers otherwise your child will be singled out & treated unfairly. Not all of the staff appear to be a part of the good ole boys, but beware!
