As a parent, I am deeply disappointed in how my 7-year-old son was treated at Saint Mark’s.Instead of being supported through emotional struggles and grief at home, he was made to feel like a “problem.” A child who once loved school began asking heartbreaking questions like, “Am I a bad kid?” and saying, “My school hates me.”No 7-year-old should leave a school feeling isolated, ashamed, or unwanted.What shocked us most was the lack of compassion and understanding for a young child still learning emotional regulation — especially while also dealing with bullying issues that were repeatedly minimized. Rather than helping him grow through challenges, the environment made him feel labeled and defeated.Schools should nurture children emotionally, not damage their self-esteem and sense of safety. My son's confidence has plummeted. I'm not sure he will ever recover from this experience.I truly hope no other child leaves feeling the way my son did.
