"I wouldn't call Riverside a "family" based side of town. It certainly can sire a family, but I wouldn't recommend the public schools here for kids. It's getting very crowded in Riverside, and I've lived here for over 20 years. However, if you're a young couple starting out, or in college with roomies, then it's very inviting, the night life is nice, plenty of hot spots, restaurants, shopping, live music etc. This side of town is for rich folk who's kids have moved out, or for young adults."

"Sidewalks almost everywhere. People are generally responsible about their dogs. Very few strays or loose dogs. People are concerned if they do appear. Lots of parks and green space. "

"An historic ‘traditional’ neighborhood with an eclectic mix of architecture, single family and multiple family residences, parks, restaurants and shopping. A mix of socioeconomic and demographic groups create a diverse community. Lots of pets, festivals, markets and neighborhood events. "

"I’ve lived in Riverside Avondale Historic District for over 20 years. I love the architecture and history of the area, the neighbors, the walkability, having grocery, dining, boutiques within walking distance. I love the parks, the River, and being able to walk my dogs and interact with neighbors. It’s a great place to live! "

"The arts market is always fun. There’s is a porchfest that happens every year for a couple years now. Wide array of venues for concerts and the nightlife isn’t bad either."

"There are many parks, a library, ice cream and other restaurants that are kid-friendly. The neighborhood is full of sidewalks, which enable exploration by foot or bike or scooter. There aren’t many quiet streets to let kids ride bikes freely, but you can find some less busy, more protected streets if you look around. "

"There are many parks in our wonderful neighborhood. We also have many activities and festivals within walking distance. I love that you don’t have to drive everywhere, just take a short walk to the grocery, ice cream, or pizza place. This neighborhood has it all. "

"I've lived in the neighborhood for a few months and like it so far. However, the street noise is a little bit much as people drive fast at night and it's often difficult to pull out of my parking space."

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageRPDS has a wonderful reputation and there are very good reasons to send your child to school there. It is well maintained, warm, and the curriculum is well designed (but not particularly well executed so it seems to be somewhat hit or miss in how many kids get to fully access the curriculum). The parents are highly involved, which is typically the hallmark of a “good” school. They have the structure to give a wide swath of children the kind of support they need to thrive, but the availability of that support is only available if parents “play ball”. It seems parent participation is largely a way to achieve and parse influence. We were disappointed that their self-lauded DEI was for the brochure only. Seems a lot of their advertised programs and tactics are “brochure only”. The staff and administration seem staunchly stuck in the 90’s when it comes to educational and social-emotional learning theories and it’s, frankly, cringy to watch.Parent Review3y ago8 Reviews - Saint Paul Catholic School
