"Block party’s and great neighbors. Super friendly and incredibly hospitable where we live. I love the weather and the commuting on the ferry is awesome"

"Currently there are many explosions in fireworks and the neighborhood that echo through the night. I am sure that most animals are pretty scared although our cats seemed just fine with it"

"Friendly neighbors, however not much to do activities for parents with babies/kids. There’s no malls here in the city or great restaurants. You have general grocery stores but nothing special that stands out. Vallejo has so much potential, just taking a long time for them to grow or change it for the better."

"My neighborhood is close to the Highway. There are stores, banks and restraunts within walking distance. Our neighborhood is very active. People are always walking with and without dogs. This is the friendliest area I have ever lived in."

"Cheap housing, but crime is high. People run red lights all the time. A guy got stabbed a couple blocks away from my house. I always hear police sirens. "

"There is no bart across drowning on what time you need. And there’s the daily bridge toll. Gas prices are cheaper than others but that may be the only plus side"

"There is a weekly Saturday Farmers Market, where other community events also happen. There is also 4th July Parade, Cops and Coffee events, and the Mad Hatter Parade. There are event of one kind or another at the waterfront most weekends. "

"I am centrally located to freeways, grocery stores, gas stations and family parks. There is a short 40 minute drive to the city and Vacaville outlets. "

"We just moved a year ago to Vallejo and LOVE it! Our neighbors are very friendly (they always say hi and often stop to chat, they bring our garbage cans back when we forget, they watch our pets when we’re on vacation etc) and everyone takes good care of their houses and yards. We used to live in San Francisco and know that Vallejo has a bad rap but I think the sketchy parts are really only limited to small areas (we don’t even know which ones are not good, we haven’t seen any areas that are that bad and it’s definitely way better than so many areas in San Francisco, like the Mission and the Tenderloin!) We’re in our late twenties and love the proximity to Napa to go wine tasting with friends. The weather is out of this world, it’s pretty much always sunny, warmer than San Francisco but a lot less hot during Summer than the East Bay or Napa. Plants grow very well thanks to this weather (we have fruits trees and just planted a ton of vegetables, which are doing amazing). All in all, we love Vallejo because of its diversity and community, weather, proximity to wine country and to San Francisco, and so many more reasons. We couldn’t have found a better place to live and believe that Vallejo is a hidden gem of Northern California. Not surprising why it was so hard to find a house here and that prices keep going up! Hope this helps anyone considering to move to Vallejo! :)"

"Historical homes, tree lined streets, friendly neighbors, parks and freeway access. There is the ferry for easy access to San Francisco. There is hiking, open space, kayaking, Six Flags, golf, fishing, kite flying, and paragliding close by. "

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe staff is great. They are a school community that makes sure to interact with its students. They work hard and the students are safe and happy to be with them. The principal is amazing she really knows all her students and their interests. She provides good support to her staff and students as well as to the parents.Parent Review5y ago6 Reviews - Special Touch Learning Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student that graduated in 2020, my experiences here were unpleasant particularly due to bullying and clique-ish behavior from both peers and several teachers/staff members. The academics were not at all challenging and it seemed like anyone could pass a class without trying. There’s few sports, and the school lacks a decent place for kids to have recess besides the Church parking lot. I think there’s one, maybe two (deflated) kickballs in the whole school. Also our only attempt to have a band program lasted less than a year. Probably not worth the enormous sum of money it costs to attend. My mother worked here and was treated horribly by parents and staff. A lot of the issues came down to money, with the school consistently being over budget and mismanaging funds. It truly saddens me to see this previously award winning school fall to where it is today. I really wish I could give my old school a better rating, but a lot of changes would have to occur first.Other Review1y ago13 Reviews - Son Valley Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school will not let the kids wear coats in the building they just made this rule up last week. The school has a wide opening on the roof for sunlight so when it’s cold and raining the halls are cold and wet. The school will let your children get sick and cold because they want parents to purchase an ugly $60 coat or a $48 sweater from some company in Oakland. If you have multiple kids that $120 just for a coat! And the shirts are $88 for 4. That’s over $200 just for the shirt and coats you will also need to purchase uniform pants which are hard to get. I hate everything about this school everything. This school has done everything possible to discourage kids from not letting them attend dances unless they have perfect attendance, forcing them to throw away their lunch if they don’t eat fast enough, running in dirt, no playground for the elementary schools kids just the preschool gets a play area, charging hundreds of dollars for an 8th grade trip that most of the kids will pay for and not meet the requirements to go because of a coat and it makes them hate coming to school I literally force my kids and this is the first week.Parent Review1y ago2 Reviews
