High school review. High school is extremely small - about 60 students total. High school is good if your student is shy and needs a low stimulation social environment. If your student likes a bigger social circle and bigger sports program, Summerfield is not for you. The High School offers arts and music every year, which makes it different than traditional curriculums. Administration changes every year and has an odd structure. Make sure you and your student love the school and meet with administrators and ask them to explain how the administration works and what you do if you have a problem. It is convoluted and can cause problems if you need help. You can run into problems if you need to transfer because the grading is hard and the curriculum doesn't follow regular sequencing, making it harder to transfer. It can have a negative impact on your college apps. About 50% of the students end up going to 4 year colleges. A lot attend the JC or take gap years. If your student is super introverted and likes school and the arts, probably a good fit. If your child likes a bigger social circle and more clubs and sports options, probably not a great choice.
