Pacific Beach

We have 2 kids in this school. Despite this school being in a different neighborhood (where we have 2 10/10 elementary schools in our neighborhood), we chose this school without regret. Our kids make great friends, have wonderful teachers, and are learning so much mandarin!! The downside is most of the friends my kids make are living in different neighborhoods which makes play dates more annoying, but otherwise, the experience has been great. I dunno about test scores or what not, but my older son is scoring 2 grades higher than what he’s at, so I’m not concerned about that at all.It bewilders me how poorly the school is shown on these ratings. I’m posting to say that our experience is way better.

This is my fifth year at this school, and I couldn’t be a prouder parent. They bring lessons to life through hands-on exploration, music, art, and environmental science — helping students make connections between the classroom and the world around them. Kids here don’t just memorize facts; they learn how to think critically, care for the planet, and grow into kind, confident, and compassionate humans.What really sets this school apart is its strong, inclusive community. Families, staff, and students are proud of their diverse backgrounds and perspectives, and that diversity makes the school stronger. Every child is seen, valued, and celebrated for who they are.If you’re looking for a school that nurtures the whole child — academically, creatively, and emotionally — this is it. It’s a special place where education feels personal, joyful, and full of heart.

There truly aren't enough words to express how grateful our family is for Pacific Beach Elementary.Before coming to PBE, our daughter struggled both academically and socially at her previous school. She often felt unseen, unheard, and unsupported. Despite our concerns, very little was done to help her find her confidence or her place.Everything changed when she arrived at Pacific Beach Elementary.From the very beginning, the staff showed genuine care for our daughter as a whole person—not just as a student. They created an environment where she felt safe, supported, and valued.A very special thank you goes to Mr. K, the absolute best school counselor anyone could ask for. He gave our daughter a voice when she didn't know how to speak up for herself. He consistently checked in with her, helped her build meaningful friendships with her peers, and encouraged a level of self-confidence we never knew she had. Watching her grow into a happier, more confident child has been nothing short of incredible, and Mr. K has been a huge part of that transformation.Whatever they pay Mr. K, it isn't enough. The impact he has on students and families is truly priceless.Pacific Beach Elementary has changed our daughter's life, and we will always be thankful for the compassion, dedication, and unwavering support they've shown our family. Thank you, PBE, for believing in our daughter and helping her become the confident, happy kid she was always meant to be.

I’m impressed in every way. It’s a gift to see a public school deliver such an excellent education. IB deserves some credit here.

St Paul's provides an excellent, moral based education that exceeds academically as well. I feel confident sending my children there knowing it is one of the best options available.
