"What the area is like. The culture. The traffic. The crime. The noise volume. Is there easy access to public transportation. "

"Currently, the good thing I can say about South Natomas. Is the access to most all freeways, it’s easy getting to so many of my husbands sites for work. And bc of the crime here, he had quite a few sites here. "

"They would like to know that people will walk their dogs daily, rain or shine. Dislike, that there are some people who don't walk with dogs on leashes. "

"Dog walkers would enjoy that most other walkers are very cautious. Most keep their dogs on a leash. There are stations with supplies to clean up afterwards."

"Tons of homeless people. Also, we’ve had our packages stolen from our door more than once. There is constantly dog poop on the sidewalks and grass."

"Slowly going down hill. Our neighboring neighborhood (higginwood) is slowly taking over the South Natomas area. Been living here for over 3 years and have seen a steady incline in criminal activity including homeless activity. "

"Easy. The 5 is right there. Only takes about twenty minutes to get anywhere. It’s a little harder due to the garden highway being under construction "

"On our cul-de-sac, Fourth of July is a big celebration during the day. We get to act like kids and have water wars. May thru October is water fight season. Friday night concerts at the Promenade are a big hit too!"

"Schools are awful unless you go to charter. Kids are out of control and bully others. I don’t feel safe most of the time. It’s really gone downhill fast. "

"Summer events on our cul-de-sac include: water wars, 4th of July fireworks show and nightly fire pit gatherings. Halloween front yard presentation is minimal, but we put all our candy together and hand out generously while enjoying all the costumes!"

"Close to 5 and 80 freeway and downtown. Hearing more gunshots, car break ins, theft and vandalism in area. Being a senior citizen, I BC am becoming more and more uncomfortable in this area."

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAmerican Lakes is a school I've been attending since the fourth grade. I'd say that it's not the best school, but for the most part that's no fault of its own. The children at this school are simply uncontrollable, which takes away from the learning of others. On top of that, the children underperform, and it makes my above grade level test scores look like the work of a genius in comparison. There are some pros, though. It is a very diverse school, and despite the problematic jokes made in bad taste, I think this school has taught me to be respectful of other cultures better than anything. The teachers are great (shoutout to the middle school staff, 6th grade's Mr. Smith, and 4th grade's Mrs. Westbrook), and they have good support for mental health and emotional well-being. As an elementary school, American Lakes is great. As a middle school, however, American Lakes is intolerable. The ill-behaved students combined with the lack of classes makes the middle school experience a disaster. Not to mention the fact that the people in charge are so busy handling kids they seem to neglect the middle school all together.I think it's a decent school to send your kids to, especially if you don’t really have another option, but get them in somewhere else once they hit 7th grade.Student Review2y ago2 Reviews - Jefferson Elementary School
