"This particular street Lennox Ave in Van nuys is gorgeous! Lots of trees and walkable abd everything is walking distance, restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacy, gas stations, veterinary clinics, you named! Love how green this street is"

"Very walkable streets and high dog population neighborhood. Lots of people out walking in the evenings on a nice day, many with baby strollers, dogs or both."

"We moved to this neighborhood as a predominate work-from-home location. It’s a good community with lots of lot space where even in heavy commuter traffic you can get to the west side in ~45 mins. This feels especially satisfying compared to further out communities that people go for similar space but require 1-1.5 hour commutes each way."

"Neighborhood has yearly events, such as a holiday get together and the area draws a lot of people for Halloween festivities. There’s a number of young families that have come into the area in the past couple years and there’s good above average interaction and playtime amongst them, compared to other areas of Los Angeles from experience."

"Car is required. You can’t move around freely if you don’t have a car. But there is public transportation if you are willing to put up with it."

"There are so many happy dog walkers in my neighborhood. But homeless people are lining the periphery. "

"Very friendly neighborhood and kid and pet friendly, in zip code 91406 the streets get re-paved like every two years or so, kids go out trick or treating, decorations are put up and taken down on time, I’ve lived 20 years here and the prices of homes have gone up more than twice of what we got it for."

"I’ve lived here for 2 years and have witnessed over 30 major car accidents. Buildings set ablaze by homeless, trees as well. No dog owner ever picks up their dog. And everyone speeds on most streets."

"No parking and some people have their broken down cars sitting there and take up 3 car spaces to save parking. "

"Van Nuys is a community full of wonderful people and families that appreciate their homes. Unfortunately, the city does not do enough to keep public area/settings clean nor well-kept. Streets are never cleaned, sidewalks dirty, roads/potholes are rarely fixed. It’s a shame to see how neglected this great city is. "

"There's a lot of traffic and you basically have to run red lights to get anywhere. It's loud too. Sirens constantly go off at all times of night. I live above a bus stop so I have to listen to crack heads yell at each other all night too. Don't move here. "

"The diversity in the people. Otherwise it's not safe, it's not very friendly, and parking sucks. I wouldn't live here again unless I had to. Which was the case for the first time. "

"Better to have your own transportation but traffic is always an issue. The parks are somewhat maintained but there are many issues with homeless encampments in public areas."

"There are bus stops near the area on almost every corner but I would not suggest walking anywhere around here the people drive way too fast and there’s always somebody asking for change "

"There’s a great school on erwin street and also by the Costco so you don’t have to worry about them having a safe place to learn. However the streets here tend to get shady at times "

"I’ve lived in this area for 6 years. You have to be careful here. There are some great little neighborhood pockets with nice homes and friendly families but it’s surrounded by low income apartments and homeless camps. "

"I've lived in van Nuys for a year and just like every city in California it has it's good spots, If you move here move closer towards Sherman oaks area its much better, and safer for kids. the closer you get to panorama city and Reseda the more you will hear helicopters and see more crime"

"To be quite honest, this doesn’t feel like an ideal neighborhood in which to raise a child, or at least, not my particular street. The smaller streets would be much more ideal"

"Not a very safe neighborhood. Officer involved shooting in front of my home and they closed down access to the street until the following day. Lots of prostitution and drug addicts roaming around "

"People dump wherever they want. Shootings close by. People are loud. Cheap rent is the best part. Otherwise, it doesn’t feel too safe. "

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy family's experience at CCS has been wonderful! We are grateful to be part of this amazing community. The school truly embraces different backgrounds, perspectives and learning styles. The teachers genuinely know their students. They understand who they are as learners and as people. The administration is also approachable and supportive, stepping in thoughtfully whenever a child needs extra support. My son's kindergarten teacher recognized early on that he may have a learning different, which sparked us to look into getting him some additional support. CCS has been helpful every step of the way. As for the community - it goes beyond the classroom. Many of us have formed meaningful friendships with other families that continue outside of the classroom. Community is in the name and it truly feels like one. I'm proud of the emotionally aware and self expressive little person my son has become and it truly is thanks to CCS and the tools they give students regarding their social emotional development. They are learning all the academics they need but they are learning to be thoughtful learners and good people.Parent Review2mo ago52 Reviews - ABC Little School-Sherman Oaks
