7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy girls attended this school last school year and it was the worse school we ever encountered. The principle and office staff were absolutely unprofessional. Did not respectfully call my children by their names when I came by to check them out of school. The only thing that made it a little tolerable were their teachers.Parent Review12y ago2 Reviews - Hueytown Intermediate School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePutting my kids back in the Birmingham district school next year. This hueytown attendance policy is Ridiculous. I shouldn’t be standing at a Tablet marking my child late at 7:52. Now I see why the attendance is low. Kids are being marked Late at 7:51, 7:52, & 7:53. Those tardies add up to absentees. I wish they would try to take me to court over my son getting to school BEFORE 7:55. Now I see why they have the Comments turned off on Google and the school systems attendance is bad. It’s bc yall are having parents sign kids in at 7:51, 7:52, & 7:53 and those tardies turn into absentees. Also the Long Wait lines at hueytown primary and intermediate is ridiculous and the schools is clearly overpopulated in the Tiny area they’re located at. Also My Son complains about how fast he has to hurry to eat his lunch and can’t finish it due to the short time they have due to the Overpopulation of the school.Parent Review7mo ago9 Reviews - Hueytown Primary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had 3 children attend NHES, 2 of them still do. My oldest is a 5th grader and my youngest is a 1st grader. We have NEVER had an issue that hadn't been addressed. My oldest is a straight "A" student and has been involved in so many different activities and/or groups because of her academic achievements. This is definitely a great school to send an excelled child! They offer the TaG Program (Talented and Gifted), National Elementary Honor Society, Ambassadors, Safety Patrol, Science Olympiad, Chess Club, Drama Club, Choir Club, Spanish Club, Newcomb Team, Spelling Bee, Hearing and Vision Screening, Speech and Language Therapy, Reading Help, etc.... Too many to name them all!!! They are ALWAYS welcoming parents to come "sit in" or to come and volunteer for ANYTHING!!!I absolutely LOVE NHES and I hope the next few years are just as great!!Parent Review7y ago8 Reviews - Pleasant Grove Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePleasant Grove Elementary School is a hidden gem not included on the State of Alabama's failing/ priority school list. In recent years (2019), it has become a Title 1 school. Due to this economic change in the Pleasant Grove community, the school has many events for parents to be involved in their child's education. The following activities are offered: Parent University, monthly PBIS celebrations, Robotics Club, Track Team, Newcomb Team, Bus Celebrations, After-School Tutoring, Discovery Club, mentoring opportunities that include a partnership with the Alumni Birmingham Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, The Man Project, and Girls Inc. As a parent, I've noticed over the years that parental involvement has declined tremendously; however, the PTA currently has a 7% membership of the school's total population.Parent Review2y ago13 Reviews - Garywood Christian School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI transfered to Garywood from a public school. First, they really don't offer a wide arrangement of classes. At my public school we could choose from a list of electives. The biggest problem with the school was that none of the teachers (that taught high school) actually had a degree in what they were teaching or either didn't have a degree at all. The school wasn't credited when I went there so my diploma was worth nothing until they became credited 2 years later. I learned nothing my senior year. The SAT's are a sham. The whole school basically was. The teachers mean well, but a subsitute teacher shouldn't be made the offical teacher just because they couldn't find a replacement. Graduated in 2005.Other Review13y ago1 Reviews - Brooklane Baptist Academy

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy grandson has attended this school for over 5 years. He is currently a fifth grader. The academic achievement that he has reached is amazing. Our family refers to him as our Genius. He is so smart and ahead of the average 5th grader. There has not been any challenges so far, with him being a student of Color. It has truly shown us that it lives up to his name being a Christian Academy. There is diversity in the faculty/staff and students. We feel safe with him being there. If you are looking for a good school, give them a try.Parent Review2y ago8 Reviews
