5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTeachers/admin seem miserable. Teachers don’t make an effort to connect with parents. Rarely email or call so you’re left in the dark and rely on your child letting you know how school is going. I haven’t had any specific negative experiences with the school but when you compare it to Primrose, the overall quality, communication and experience is lacking. It’s amazing that the teachers aren’t expected to have an online presence. The curriculum and programs that the school uses aren’t accessible online either.Parent Review2y ago11 Reviews - Somers Middle School

"45 minutes to an hour from the city. Completely relaxing and never any traffic unless you’re still within the city limits or there’s an accident. My wife and I love our commute compared to 45 minutes from one borough to the other. "

"We have a park in the middle of town that’s half on Lake Mahopac and we have what’s called the Summer Concert Series which is one night a week here where you can bring your family, blanket or chairs and enjoy the live bands where everyone enjoys the evening together. Santa also shows up near Christmas to see and take a photo with every child that comes to our beautiful clean park to see him and of course he brings Mrs. Clause along with him. I’ve lived here for 30 years and am still raising my last two of five children here which they all have enjoyed growing up on the lake every summer on the boat tubing and truly enjoying ourselves. It’s most definitely a wonderful town to come and raise your family with blue ribbon Schools and excellent teachers. Cindy B "

"I drive, not too much traffic. There’s really not much public transportation. Mahopac does not a big downtown or main common area. A few strip malls & cluster of businesses at pubs the lake."
