E. Russell Hicks Middle School is a decent school for students that do not have learning differences. The school does create and hold interesting family-oriented gatherings for the students. The Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) as a whole is not supportive to neurotypical students that require accommodations and services to support the student to thrive in the educational setting. It is INCREDIBLY hard to even have your child evaluated for learning services and support. When you can get the school to agree to assess your child, they do the bare minimum testing, AT BEST. The actual teachers are SO HELPFUL and SUPPORTIVE; however, the teachers are not supported as well, and it prevents teachers from appropriately supporting the students. I do NOT recommend.

The environment is very unfriendly and a difficult space for student who want to excel academically. The administration does very little to limit the amount of bad students roaming the halls and disrupting classrooms. The teachers are very nice and do their best with what they can.

We are a homeschool family but our foster placements attend this school. I had such a positive experience and I’m so grateful for all the work they did to support and love our kiddos.
