I am a parent, I am so upset with my son first year of big boy school. My son is autistic and this year was the worse school year! He did not receive proper therapy that is stated in his IEP, wasn’t notified about this til the middle almost end of school year. I never spoke with the head person of special education, he never responding back to me. I also asked about a promotion for pre-K 3 they stated his last day is this Wednesday because pre-K 4 is having a promotion Thursday and it’s nowhere for him to go in the school! Like I was looking forward to atleast a ceremony like every other school did for my son but no it’s nothing. I’m hurt and upset and he will not be returning next year!

I am also a 2012 Anacostia graduate (shoutout to us!) and recently completed my bachelors of arts in economics (yes, I graduated in three years). I could not have done any of this without the support I got from my teachers (I love you Ms. Sowers) and staff (We had the best DC-CAP councelor). Yes the school gets a bit rowdy and learning can't always happen in that environment. The main problem is that students are not understanding the value of education. Once we return to instilling this value in our children.... we'll see the great things Anacostia SHS can do! Our ancestors literally DIED trying to learn to read because they knew how critical it was. Students have to work together to create and maintain a feasible learning community.

Baboons are running wild up in here!Definitely the most stupid place that fakes to be a school. Daily fights and the staff have No Common sense even in basic matters. It needs to be shut down and converted into a mental hospital. That will be helpful.
