I am also a 2012 Anacostia graduate (shoutout to us!) and recently completed my bachelors of arts in economics (yes, I graduated in three years). I could not have done any of this without the support I got from my teachers (I love you Ms. Sowers) and staff (We had the best DC-CAP councelor). Yes the school gets a bit rowdy and learning can't always happen in that environment. The main problem is that students are not understanding the value of education. Once we return to instilling this value in our children.... we'll see the great things Anacostia SHS can do! Our ancestors literally DIED trying to learn to read because they knew how critical it was. Students have to work together to create and maintain a feasible learning community.

My son is a current student at The Academies at Anacostia. We had our trepidations about attending Anacostia, but no more. He enjoys going to school everyday. He has nothing but good things to say about Dr Roberts, Mr Comfero, Ms Quick, many other staff members and students. We see big things going on at The Academies at Anacostia.

I enrolled my child in this school and its a Month later and I will be enrolling het OUT!First I would like to say that thr school has been fixed up nice. It actually looked nice and clean in there. The Teachers do try to teach my child have nothing but good things to say about herTeachers. The students totally disrespect the teachers. Kids bring in Mace and gods know what's else. Its always a fight or police (a lot) after school. I reallly wanted to like the school and have my child attend but I fear for her safety in this school and coming out of this school. I don't know what can be done maybe they could get police to walk around school all day(its a mad house).

I am an an alumnus of AHS class of 1965. Our school was one of the best academic High Schools in Washington. We had National Merit winners, Westington House Scholars, service academy appointees, many college scholarship winners. I was in the honors track and received a scholarship for my BA and MA. I also have a doctorate. Many of my classmates are professionals and have achieved much in life. I am so saddened by the decline and failure of my beloved alma mater. I am the Senior Fellow for Ethics and Public Policy for the National Clergy Council, Washingtom, D. C.
