8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had high hopes for PS. 29.Every year my child’s experience has been radically different. There seems to little alignment as students move from grade to grade. There is no system or app that allows for fluid communication. While there has been some amazing teachers, the lack of social and emotional support for students compounded with the inability to keep students safe from harassment, would make me reluctant to recommend this school.Parent Review2mo ago16 Reviews - South Brooklyn Community High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is currently in 6th grade at BCS and we could not be happier. I never thought my kid would look forward to school after many years struggling in elementary school to complete assignments and participate in class (we finally got him diagnosed with ADHD during the remote learning phase of covid), but it's a different world now. The teachers at BCS seem happy and really engaged with their students, and Scill (the principal), Imani (AP), and the administrative staff are communicative, caring, and available to both students and parents. The 6th grade teacher team sends out a detailed email to parents each week with a rundown of what the kids are studying, when they have quizzes and assignments due, and what the homework expectations are (homework is very light so far, which I love--most of the BCS work gets done in class). Each child is assigned to a "crew" at the beginning of 6th grade that they stay with the whole way through BCS, and they have a crew period every day where they can touch base with their crew leaders and friends and have some downtime (sometimes they play games in crew, sometimes they use the period to do homework, but either way it's a nice break in the academic day). My biggest worry with middle school was whether my child would have social-emotional support and feel good at/about school, and BCS has exceeded my expectations on that front. If you are looking for a diverse, inclusive, supportive community where kids' well-being is nurtured and the academics are strong but not rigorous or stressful, BCS is a fantastic choice.Parent Review3y ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near LORRING Pl.

"Sidewalks, plenty of trees, very pleasant to walk around. Everybody picks up after their dogs here. We don't usually see dogs without a leash"

"What’s important for families and parents to know is that There are a lot of families displacing existing residents and gut renovation. Prices are going up. So existing homeowners are selling."

"My neighbor’s commute does not seem suitable due to several practical concerns. The route appears unsafe at times, with limited lighting and inconsistent pedestrian or traffic protections. It is also quite slow, often affected by congestion and delays that make travel inefficient and stressful. Additionally, the conditions can be uncomfortable, especially during bad weather, which further complicates the journey. While everyone has different circumstances, this particular commute seems to present ongoing challenges that could impact reliability and overall well-being. Exploring alternative routes or transportation options might provide a safer, more efficient, and more comfortable daily travel experience."

"Manhattan just hit different — the energy never stops, you’ve got world-class food from every culture within a 10-minute walk, and there’s something magical about how a quiet tree-lined block in the West Village can be two subway stops from Times Square. Neighbors actually say hi at the bodega, and you meet artists, finance folks, and immigrants all in the same coffee line. It’s chaotic, alive, and feels like home."

"A lot of traffic , dirty , a lot of crazy people on Brighton beach, the metro is dirty and unsafe. We tried riding a scooter and a bike on the boardwalk - old boards that are not secured and holes can cause serious injury."
