8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended the high school from 2009-2013 and have been in the Montour School District my whole life. When I was there, Dr. Boyer, the now ex-superintendent, definitely did some damage to the school quality. However, they have a new one and are hopefully on the way up. I think that Montour is a pretty good school district as far as public schools in the area go, and we were very fortunate to have many CHS, AP, and honors courses available to us that put me ahead in college. There are definitely some extra curricular programs that are favored more than others. Basically, if you're an athlete and choose to coast through on that, you can. Far too many teachers will pass you just because you're on the football team. A little pathetic, but not the only school that is like that unfortunately. The teachers are hit and miss. While I was there, the math department was overall pretty excellent. Mrs. DeRose and Mrs. Brennan are particularly wonderful math teachers. The English was in pretty rough shape, but again in comparison to other schools in the area, it was acceptable. The other areas of education were pretty average. Overall, despite some flaws, my time at Montour was pretty great.Student Review11y ago3 Reviews - David E Williams Middle School

"It is a great place to live in. Some of the neighborhoods are very quiet and the people are cool. Great walking distance from bus stops and filled with plenty of stores such as food or corner stores great place to see fast cars fly past lol"

"Nothing happens in a town with sadness around every corner, but with grit and determination the residents do their best on a daily basis and strive toward community, excellence and prosperity with a strong goal town peace and a foundation of harmony and happiness. May we all be so bold as to push past boundaries and personal prejudice to find our true selves and love each other. "

"It’s really a smooth transition from one side to the next. Depending on the time of the day. But my experience has been smooth "

"Beware of dangers that lurk around every corner. They creep in the dead of night unexpectedly. Bring an umbrella. Stay out the alleys. Once saw a homeless man fighting with a rat over a bagel. The bagel won. "

"Other dog owners don’t care for their own dogs. They’re mean and aggressive. Also, there’s a ton of cats and raccoons in the area. "

"Lots of dogs. No breed is seen as unacceptable in my experience. People tend to get to know each other through their dogs lol. We probably need to build a dog park. Just make sure to use poo bags. "

"The school systems that serve the area tend to drop kids off right at their door. It’s annoying if your a driver lol, but at the same time, it is good reassurance that your child is safe. And they DO NOT play about people trying to pass while the bus is stopped loading or unloading children. Some bus driver’s even pull diagonal to keep other drivers from putting the kids on harm’s way. You’re also not far from activities even though I don’t think there are a lot of activities directly in the neighborhood. It’s pretty accessible to the city and to Robinson. "

"This is a dog friendly neighborhood! More people need to clean up after their dogs though. We walk our dogs a lot, and always have bags with us. It would be nice if they set up dog stations on each block - that might help! 😁"

"We have dog waste stations with waste bags in four places in our development. They might not like that many neighbors (with large dog breeds) don't take advantage of them and cause unsightly waste in common areas."

"there are dogs fenced-in at almost every house. some owners leave their dogs loose. it is very noisy and makes both of my dog's bark and they're normally quiet. There is almost no time at all that there isn't a dog barking. and I'm an animal lover"

"There are a lot of places to walk your dog here. I don’t see too many people walking dogs, but I’d still say the area is dog friendly. There are a lot of fenced in yards for dogs. "

"Nothing is unique about this neighborhood, it's over priced and not safe for kids. The school is one of Pittsburgh"s worst and it has a high drug, and crime rate."
