6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEveryone who has graduated from Lamar High School is a professional in the career world: Physicians- MDs- Lawyers etc. I did not go to school there but the people that I know who graduated from there are earning 6 figures & up. The area is nice - near everything. If I went to a public school, I’d definitely choose Lamar High School.Other Review4w ago23 Reviews - Pershing Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am extremely disappointed with the administration at this school. My son was involved in a situation where he felt completely unheard and dismissed by school leadership. Rather than taking the time to listen to all sides fairly, it felt as though assumptions were made without fully considering his perspective. As a parent, it is heartbreaking to watch your child leave a meeting feeling like his voice does not matter. Every student deserves to be treated with respect and given an equal opportunity to be heard.I attended this school years ago, and it was a very different place. Unfortunately, the administration today does not reflect the standards I remember. Student behavior has declined, and the way concerns are handled leaves much to be desired. My son's experience has left me questioning how many other students may feel ignored or unsupported when they need help the most. I hope the school takes steps to ensure that all students are treated fairly and that parents' concerns are taken seriously.Parent Review2w ago35 Reviews - West University Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don’t usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to share how much WUES has done for my children-TLDR: WUES is an outstanding school with a strong community. Whether you value academics, safety, or connection, WUES delivers on all fronts. Academically, WUES is second to none. The teachers and principal are deeply involved, and thanks to generous PTO support, students benefit from learning tools and technology that many schools can’t offer. While the workload is rigorous, students are often better prepared for junior high than even those from top private primary schools. In terms of safety, the school is on the same block as two police departments and a fire station, which offers an unmatched peace of mind. Finally, what truly sets WUES apart for my family is the community. The parent involvement and PTO here is unmatched. Parents and teachers go above and beyond to create meaningful opportunities for kids to connect—whether through afterschool clubs, enrichment programs, or fun events (there's soo many!). The student body is diverse, thanks in part to the school's location, and that diversity is celebrated and embraced. The school also emphasizes character development through a positive behavior program that teaches and rewards kindness and respect. When we first moved to the neighborhood, I was in awe by how polite and respectful the children were—and I truly believe the school plays a big role in shaping that culture. All to say this school is truly a gem.Parent Review1y ago34 Reviews - Check out schools near Drake St.

"The well lit houses at Christmas time make it fun to walk around and see the lights. It's also fun to get to go to Central Market on a regular basis and see the live music."

"I've lived in the greenway plaza area for over 10 years and was previously outside the loop near the galleria/Tanglewood. This is so much better!! Both have excellent community involvement, good schools and are clean. Both are fairly low in crime...extremely low if compared to the rest of the city. Both are increasing in property value, especially high rise condominiums but regarding traffic, although both get fairly treacherous during rush hour, inside the loop has more alternate "back road" shortcuts to ease your navigation away from the major streets. Inside the loop also has a much livelier nightlife and better restaurants. "
