7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent, I have several concerns regarding the school’s policies and overall environment. One of my biggest concerns is the apparent lack of formal incident reporting. When issues involving students occur, there does not seem to be a consistent process for documenting and communicating incidents to parents, which can leave families feeling uninformed and unsupported.I have also observed that students’ outdoor and physical activity time appears to be limited due to academic performance, homework completion, or classroom comprehension issues. While academics are important, children also benefit greatly from recess and opportunities for physical activity throughout the school day.Additionally, I have noticed security and staff members frequently using their phones while supervising hallways, which raises concerns about student monitoring and safety. At the same time, parents are not permitted to walk their children to class, making attentive supervision by staff even more important. While Ivette Castro has been helpful on certain occasions, I have found interactions with her to be challenging when concerns are raised or differing viewpoints are expressed. Constructive feedback does not always seem to be well received, which can make parents hesitant to advocate for their children.I would like to acknowledge that the principal has generally been communicative, responsive, and willing to follow through on discussions. However, there appears to be a culture among some staff members that feels unprofessional, including gossip and what some families may perceive as discriminatory treatment.I hope these concerns are taken seriously and used as an opportunity to improve transparency, professionalism, student supervision, and parent-school relationships.Parent Review1mo ago15 Reviews - West Miami Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagenot a good school dont send ur kids here the learning is horrible teachers dont care and are rude they dont care about students mentally or physically because they have bad nurses also they have no education for an "special" kids they be in regular classes with other kids the saftey isnt good someone threatened to shoot up the school last year and the student made many death threats to other students and they just dismissed it as if nothing happened, they was also a kid here who hit physically and sexual assulted them and the school silenced the victim.Parent Review7mo ago11 Reviews - South Miami Senior High School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have been an educator at this school for the past 19 years, and as many of my colleagues will attest, South Miami Senior is a hidden gem. Our specialized programs offer opportunities for all students to participate in programs they can connect with, making their high school experiences memorable and worthwhile.Teacher Review9mo ago6 Reviews - Check out schools near Bird Rd.

"I left my entire life here set a tell you the truth I practically grew up here I love the section of the neighborhood it’s peace and quiet you don’t hear a lot of yelling or screaming or you were here in most neighborhoods what I don’t like is that the cars use our streets and most of the other streets from the neighborhood like a passing zone and they don’t care if we have kids or not and I don’t think that’s good at all"

People who live in this neighborhood, are friendly, walk their dogs, ride bikes by themselves or with their families, lots runners and groups of 10 sped racing bikers like to map their routes in the neighborhood early mornings, afternoon and weekends. "Every November, St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church has a wonderful Greek Festival for Fri. tl Sun. Greek favorite foods like Spanakopita & Moussaka & Greek Salad & Gyros & Baklava. Greek teens dance in costume. Arts & crafts. Rides and slides for the kids! In December they sell Xmas trees. Also, Hole in the Wall Restaurant has Taco Tuesday: $1 for four types with a paid drink (soda or beer on tap!) Amazing Cilantro-lime dressing! Don't miss this!"
