8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is very hit or miss depending on what teachers you get. The gang related activity and voilence at this school runs rampant and the staff do very little to almost nothing about it. Illicit drug use and fights happen almost every day at this school, even to the point of multiple stabbings taking place on campus over the years. The mental support staff here are rarely available or even present, and the facilities are poorly maintained.Student Review11mo ago19 Reviews - Columbus Avenue School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageColumbus has very hard working and caring teachers and admin who clearly believe that all children can achieve. They strive to make students and families feel safe and valued. Teachers differentiate to meet the diverse needs of their students. The staff, along with the PTA, are continuing to add more and more activities for families and the community to come together.Other Review8mo ago9 Reviews - Robert Fulton College Preparatory School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe counselors do nothing at all, most of the teachers do assist students with work when asked. The people who are in control of helping resolve discourse between students are very ineffective. I've seen many instances where there is no help, but that is not all the time. Many teacher included programs, very good.Parent Review8mo ago9 Reviews - Birmingham Community Charter High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student at Birmingham Community Charter High School I can say with confidence that I am extremely happy that I made the decision to go here for high school. The teachers are very helpful and their lessons make you well-prepared for the homework that is given. Also from my experience they try to sit down with each student that wants to learn and gives them every opportunity to do so. The counselors do much more than switch your classes. They are there when you need someone to talk to and are extremely helpful in determining what classes will benefit you and to give you perspective and positive reinforcement. The administrative staff are always on top of their work and do a great job to make sure that the teachers and ready and equipped to give their students the best learning experience. Birmingham is a community and everyone has a mutual respect for one another. I am still using many things that the teachers taught and the counselors told me to this day. When I decided to give Birmingham a chance I did not know what I was getting myself into. Now I know that I got a great education and friends for life. I also developed professional relationships with multiple staff members to this day that helped me make it to where I am now. Do me a favor, go to Birmingham. I continue to reap the rewards and I am sure you will too!Other Review6y ago18 Reviews - Check out schools near 6919 Sepulveda Blvd #19.

"This particular street Lennox Ave in Van nuys is gorgeous! Lots of trees and walkable abd everything is walking distance, restaurants, supermarkets, pharmacy, gas stations, veterinary clinics, you named! Love how green this street is"

"Very walkable streets and high dog population neighborhood. Lots of people out walking in the evenings on a nice day, many with baby strollers, dogs or both."

"We moved to this neighborhood as a predominate work-from-home location. It’s a good community with lots of lot space where even in heavy commuter traffic you can get to the west side in ~45 mins. This feels especially satisfying compared to further out communities that people go for similar space but require 1-1.5 hour commutes each way."

"Neighborhood has yearly events, such as a holiday get together and the area draws a lot of people for Halloween festivities. There’s a number of young families that have come into the area in the past couple years and there’s good above average interaction and playtime amongst them, compared to other areas of Los Angeles from experience."

"Car is required. You can’t move around freely if you don’t have a car. But there is public transportation if you are willing to put up with it."

"Very friendly neighborhood and kid and pet friendly, in zip code 91406 the streets get re-paved like every two years or so, kids go out trick or treating, decorations are put up and taken down on time, I’ve lived 20 years here and the prices of homes have gone up more than twice of what we got it for."

"I’ve lived here for 2 years and have witnessed over 30 major car accidents. Buildings set ablaze by homeless, trees as well. No dog owner ever picks up their dog. And everyone speeds on most streets."

"Van Nuys is a community full of wonderful people and families that appreciate their homes. Unfortunately, the city does not do enough to keep public area/settings clean nor well-kept. Streets are never cleaned, sidewalks dirty, roads/potholes are rarely fixed. It’s a shame to see how neglected this great city is. "

"There's a lot of traffic and you basically have to run red lights to get anywhere. It's loud too. Sirens constantly go off at all times of night. I live above a bus stop so I have to listen to crack heads yell at each other all night too. Don't move here. "
