1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThese people here especially the actual teachers care nothing at all for the students well being and academic progress. I don't know if it's them being underpaid or what. It's really bad though. You have to have coffee, brunch, lunch, and dinner with them as well as call the school and email all year long for them to do their jobs. It's really bad. If my child didn't have a smart family, my child would be messed up. Encina does not care. Don't waste your time. They've known my kid for years (a well behaved kid they say) and they don't care to intervene when something seems off. They pretend it doesn't exist. Knowing them for years means nothing. They won't care about the kids. Ever. I hate we got stuck here. If you don't have time to be on their cases each day, don't enroll. The portal doesn't work, nor is it regularly updated so they make being an active parent pretty tough. Good luck people.Parent Review5y ago14 Reviews - Howe Avenue Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAt Katherine Johnson Middle School, there is a wrestling coach named Joseph Platas who behaves in a very biased and unfair way toward students. His treatment seems intentional and systematic. For the past two days, we have tried to meet with the school principal and administration to express our concerns and file a complaint, but they have refused to meet with us. It seems that the school administration is supporting him instead of addressing the issue.Parent Review3mo ago5 Reviews - Check out schools near 2400-2400 Darwin St.

"I’ve only been here for three months and I’m just now starting to work. My opinion is immature at this time but I hope with some actual living experience I’ll come to have a fair judgement for this particular area."

"The traffic is heavy especially through construction areas. The roads are poorly maintained. The commute is frustrating."

"It’s quiet safe and a great school district. I enjoy going on walks in my neighborhood. There are plenty of grocery stores to choose from. Something I’ve learned since having kids is the neighborhood I live in specifically gets together for a parade on Fourth of July. Can’t ask for a better community. I don’t plan on moving anytime soon but I love to look and see what’s available in the neighborhood for family and friends. "

"You can walk your dog in the neighborhood or go to the park next door to walk your dog. There’s also a dog park down the street for you fur baby to run around in. "

"There is a lot of homeless people around the Arden area particularly off Hurley and Fulton area they don’t seem to cause trouble it’s just hard to explain to family why some guy is sleeping on the sidewalks in front of your house "

"There’s always traffic so you never feel alone. There’s lots of places to eat. Sacramento is a big city so this area wouldn’t be the best place to raise a kid. I like quieter neighborhoods. I do agree that there are a bunch of river access points and parks around here, which is awesome and there are plenty of dog parks."

"The commute is fine, it’s central enough to have fairly quick access to many places in the area. I drive and do not take public transportation, but it seems like there are many bus options nearby. "

"There are a couple great schools and parks in the area. The young sports community is very active. My one criticism is the lack of bike lanes on the roads"

"We have a great local park system, mission oaks parks and recreation, lots of activities put on by them, The area is maintaining its dignity for the most part.. we’ve seen a bit more bad come to the area.. but luckily their mainly passing through the area, their not residents. Still a good area to live."
