5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot say enough wonderful things about this school and the direction it’s headed under the leadership of the new principal and vice principal. The difference is already noticeable — they are incredibly hands-on, approachable, and deeply invested in both the success and well-being of every student. You can feel the positive energy the moment you walk on campus. The principal and vice principal are not just tucked away in their offices — they’re out greeting students, engaging with parents, and working directly with staff. It’s clear they’re here for the right reasons and want to make a lasting difference. One of the biggest improvements I’ve seen is in their approach to communication and accountability — especially when it comes to bullying, support services, and follow-through. They’re organized, responsive, and take time to explain things clearly. That alone has been a huge relief for families like mine. But what I appreciate most is how much they focus on what truly matters: the success and confidence of each child. My child feels supported, encouraged, and excited to go to school — and as a parent, that means everything. This school is clearly on the rise, and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of this community during such a positive and uplifting time. Kudos to the entire team — your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed!Parent Review9mo ago7 Reviews - Jack G. Desmond Middle School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWell, where shall i start? First week into school and we were harassed by the security for trying to enter the walk in gate located on the back side of the school. we could see children who walk to school entering this gate. So, I dropped my son off, watched him go into the gate where he was turned around by the security guard and sent back out the gate to walk all the way around the school to the front gate. Ok, fine we let that go, but he spent the rest of that year dodging this particular security guard because he kept doing and saying things pointed at embarrassing my son. we got through that year, only to be faced with a random dog sniffing check in one of his classrooms. his bag was marked as needing to be checked. Instead of received the required by law phone call right after the interview with the police I was notified by my son when I picked him up from school. I went straight back to the school to find there was no authority personnel to speak with. So I showed up unannounced the next day at school and asked to see the principal. I was referred to the vice principal, who proceeded to try and use reverse psychology to make it be my son's problem that we were not properly informed about this issue. He lied to us about the fact that there wasn't 2 school staff personnel being present during the search, said he had to check, but the thinks the police are hired by the school to do these searches. I brought the documentation showing the vice principal where they did not follow they're own procedure. He proceeded to tell me that since nothing happened during the interview there was no need to involve the parent. Be prepared to be on your guard if you go to this school.Parent Review10y ago6 Reviews - Matilda Torres High

"Great sense of community. There is a small town feel with a bigger city under 15 minutes away. Best of both worlds."

"Open roads with little traffic. Orchards to walk through. One thing they may not like are people who don’t control or fence their dogs and let them run free."

"I drive to Fresno daily and leave at 7 am. My commute is fairly easy with not much traffic. When I travel around Madera it is sometimes congested in certain areas but good other wise."

"people dump their trash in the empty lots around the neighborhood and we have multiple families living in single homes. there is hardly parking courtesy of one house in particular with the kennels in their garage. any festivals or celebrations expect loud music. parking limited. etc"

"super busy in the morning around 8am. super busy around 5pm as well. If its Sunday or Wednesday or Saturday prepare for traffic. the swap meet is on Sunday and Wednesday. Saturdays they have soccer leagues and it's hard to get out of our neighborhood with all the vehicles blocking the field of view"
