2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnder Ms. Sothern’s leadership, Lake Arbor Elementary has become a shining example of intentionality, and transparency. The positive shift in school culture is undeniable. The holiday gift giveaway was a heartwarming event that demonstrated the school’s thoughtfulness and organization. Students were able to pick their gifts, have their special moments captured with Santa and the Grinch, and even received batteries to ensure they could use their gifts immediately—a small detail that made a big impact. Teachers and staff like Ms. Smalls and Ms. Ferguson, along with dedicated volunteers, truly made the day magical for the students. What also stands out this year is the State of Schools offering, something I don’t recall happening previously. It’s a valuable opportunity for families to understand the school’s successes and growth areas, reinforcing the transparency that is greatly appreciated. Ms. Sothern’s sincere yet firm approach sets high expectations for staff, students, and families, inspiring everyone to rise to the occasion. The admin team, educators, and volunteers work tirelessly every day, and their efforts deserve recognition. I’m proud of the dynamic direction Lake Arbor is heading and grateful for the opportunity to benefit from the positive shift in the climate and culture.Parent Review1y ago18 Reviews - Ernest Everett Just Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have had children attend Ernest Just MS for many years. I can honestly say that this is the first year, under Dr. Whitmyer as the permanent principal, that I feel hopeful. Being an administrator, teacher, employee with the Prince George's County school system is challenging. Even with the challenges, the principal is trying to change the atmosphere for all involved for the better. As a parent, I want what is best for my girls just like anyone else. Ernest Just is not perfect, but it is still a good school. School is also what the child makes it. It's very diverse. There are many academic and sporting programs for the students to choose. With more being added for next school year. Many volunteer opportunities for students to take advantage of to meet their requirements. The teachers and administrators can't do it alone. Their needs to be MORE parent involvement. Our PAC (Parent Advisory Council) meetings normally have the same 5 - 10 parents to attend each month. Your child needs you as well.Parent Review1y ago7 Reviews - Charles Herbert Flowers High School

"Lake Arbor Day is a highlight each year. The neighborhood absolutely lives up to its name as the canopy of trees is absolutely stunning. The neighborhood continues to feel aspirational even after more than forty years. It really is quite extraordinary considering its close proximity to Capitol Hill and downtown Washington, DC. The ultimate luxury is being this close to the action while retiring comfortably in a bucolic environment that feels every bit out of a Norman Rockwell painting! "
