About this House

Renter fell through! Her loss is your gain!

Brand-new upgrades include a new electric oven, brand-new washer/dryer combo, fully fenced private yard with furniture, smokeless fire pit, combo washer/dryer (being added to bathroom), upstairs walk-in closet, solar string lights, and a new stained fence/gate; quartz countertops; a flush stove, custom stair railing, and more.

This rustic-modern charmer is perfect for someone who's not looking for a cookie-cutter home. The last several tenants have used it as a live/work space for an artist. This historic gem is located in Old Escondido, just 5 blocks from downtown. The interior has been recently remodeled, while the exterior proudly retains its funky, traditional character (due to city rules, as it is on the historic register).

The home is very private and features a generous private yard and a locking 10x10 storage shed.

Inside, the entire home features beautiful laminate flooring, stained open wood-beam ceilings, fresh paint, a new quartz countertop, and new windows. The interior has been fully insulated and sheet-rocked, while select original wood beams and one interior wood wall remain to honor its history.

Upstairs is a spacious open loft-style studio (360 sq ft) with wonderful natural light and a lovely view through a large-scale and custom window. A brand-new mini-split system keeps the space comfortable during hot days in Escondido.

The downstairs level features a kitchen equipped with several cabinets, open shelving, a large single sink, a microwave, an electric oven, new quartz countertops, and a flush-mounted 2-burner electric stove. Please note: there is no dishwasher.

The area beyond the kitchen includes wall-length bookshelves and can be used as either a dining room, second bedroom, living room, or rec space. It also includes a faux fireplace heater - not shown in the photos.

Between the kitchen and bathroom is a small room (9.5 x 7.75') that works well as a home office and includes a desk and chair. This space has an AC unit that cools the entire downstairs.

The large bathroom includes a stand-up shower, sink, vanity, custom-built mirror, shelving, multiple dressers, sliding barn door, and a small electric water heater.

The home is located behind two other detached houses, providing a safe, secure environment. Access is through a gated entry between the front homes. Entry into the home is via keypad - no need to worry about keys. Street parking only. Maximum occupancy is two people and two cars. Well-trained pet considered (no guard pets or barking dogs who are left home alone will be considered).

Included in the price:
Brand new washer/dyer combo unit (in bathroom)
10x10 storage unit
Smokelss fire pit
Desk and chair (downstairs/office space next to bathroom)
Electric faux fireplace heater (downstairs)
Oil Heater

"Escondido gets a bad rap, people focus on the bad. It’s full of amazing people, businesses and communities!"
  • Andysouth93
"The commute from Escondido to Carlsbad is absolutely horrendous at any time of the day. The 78 is too small of a freeway into San Marcos is just terrible. "
  • Macguard45
"There is a large park down the street but there are not always neighborhoods in this area. It’s more country "
  • Craig Racicot
"We live in a fairly large cul de sac most of us socialize often and keep watch over friends that are out of town "
  • Tony
" I work from home so I only leave to go to the store or restaurant and what not. Freeway access is easy and traffic is so so"
  • Craig Racicot
"We have an annual start of summer block party and winter holiday gatherings. We have supported various neighborhood youngsters in their fundraising efforts, as well as contributed to many food caravans for neighbors in need due medical issues or loss of a spouse. "
