Description

Beautiful Craftsman Home with Sweeping Ocean View (minimum 1 week rental)

Hello and welcome to our home! It is only available to rent during the heart of the summer, when our family travels, for a 6 week period between July and August. The minimum stay is 1 week. We have done this before with great success at our previous home, and are now ready to open up the home we purchased two years ago for the same period of time. If you are looking for a weekend rental, this won't be a good match for you. If you are looking for an extended stay vacation rental, please read on!

Our historic home was built in 1904 and sits on a bluff overlooking Bellingham Bay, the port and the islands beyond. We love the tall ceilings, original wood trim, leaded glass windows, and original hardware. The kitchen and all bathrooms have been updated and include high-end appliances and amenities such as a Wolf range, and Miele refrigerator/dishwasher.

The main floor has two living rooms, each with fireplace (one gas and one wood), a dining room, laundry room and kitchen. All of the main rooms have sweeping water views. In the finished basement, you'll find sectional couches and a projector with a wall screen and huge speakers - it truly feels like being in your own private movie theater!

The second floor features a very large master bedroom with en suite bath, as well as another upstairs bedroom with built-in bunkbeds (each bunkbed mattress is queen-sized). The second upstairs bedroom has its own full bath in the hall. On the main floor is a third bedroom with queen bed and en suite bath with shower. There is also a 1/2 bath on the main floor and in the finished basement there is an additional double bed.

The back deck sits right off the living room and is a wonderful spot for meals and enjoying the view. Our infrared sauna is housed in its own wooden building on the side of the deck. You are welcome to use our natural gas Weber grill. The garden has several fruit trees and raised vegetable beds, which you are free to enjoy during your stay.

Our home is in the beautiful Columbia neighborhood, within easy walking distance to downtown. Stroll over to Elizabeth Park for weekly concerts in the gazebo or walk to Squalicum Park with its zipline and playgrounds. One thing to note is that we are located near downtown, on Eldridge Avenue, and the trains are just below the cliff, so you can hear them when they come rumbling through. They do not blow their horns at our crossing, so that noise isn't any different from other spots throughout Bellingham, but you will feel the freight trains shaking the house a bit when they come by, and there are occasional louder noises from shunting or coupling on the tracks. We are completely used to the noise and it doesn't bother us, but we want to make sure all renters are aware of this beforehand!

We recognize that this rental is unique for only being available in July and August, and also because of our 1-week minimum stay requirement. It won't be the right fit for most travelers. But if you are looking for an extended summer vacation in Bellingham, and our home is what you're looking for, please send us an inquiry. We look forward to meeting you!

The lease term is a minimum of 1 week, maximum of 6 weeks.

"I've lived in the Columbia neighborhood for years. When I first moved here neighbors would stop as they were walking by or pull their car over to introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood. Even now when we are out in front of our house neighbors still stop to say hello. Very kind friendly people live in the Columbia neighborhood. "
