7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA few safety issues. For a long period of time the front door was unlocked at all times, the lock did not work. My main concern is that it is well known that random people not attending the school can come in and walk around for hours without being noticed by staff. I attended for four years and the same sinks that were broken freshman year still did not work senior year. Some staff are great, while others are punitive. Parking spots are also few and far between. There’s also no measurements taken against bullying. I’ve seen students throw drinks at other students in the midst of class and the teachers would not say anything. Pickup at the end of the day is also a nightmare, as parents park in the middle of the road or on the grass to pick up their children, it is an unsafe environment for novice drivers to navigate.Student Review1y ago18 Reviews - Mathews Elementary School

They have helped work as a team with the teachers to make sure they are succeeding. The teachers have all been wonderful. "Downtown Austin is a mix of small-town feel with big-town attractions. We love our local establishments. It's easy to walk around, with green spaces scattered all over. And local bands play every week. We have new buildings constantly going up and festivals happening all year round. The downtown scene is changing dramatically, bringing in new concepts next to old standbys."

"Downtown is where everything happens. It's a nice balance of culture, music, and business—as well as government. The University of Texas is also just north of downtown, so that adds another dimension to this area."

"Downtown is busy and getting busier as more and more companies move here. Downtown does have good access to get north, south, east, and west. Traffic is pretty normal for a big city with 1 million + people. I moved here from California, and Austin is still better than that (SF area, LA area, San Diego, etc.)."
