"I just moved back in the rainier beach area 3-4 months ago after leaving to move to the central district area for 3 years and Iโ€™ve basically lived in the rainier beach area my whole life , very friendly people . "
  • Trulia User
"sometimes they hold community outreach service's through barbeques . the smaller vendors donate there time and talent in giving back to the community. "
  • Bryce P.
"I love living in this neighborhood, all of the neighbors are quite friendly and we have community nights out with the neighbors. There are great parks and shops within walking distance and you can see the water from some locations. Location, location, location! "
  • Leeann G.
"It is a great place to walk dogs. Lots of different housing styles and greenery keeps walks interesting."
  • Emily B.
"its pretty and many places to walk with all different scenary and terrain. people are friendly. also lots of parks to visit "
  • Blackburnmatt
"The main bus line into town is terrible. We are near light rail but there is no parking there. Avoiding I5 is sometimes required to get downtown."
  • ShaunR
"25 years and counting. Itโ€™s a vibrant and diverse neighborhood that has a strong sense of community without asking for conformity. The neighborhood just keeps getting better. And itโ€™s changed me for the better, too. "
  • El Jefe
"Living here is wonderful. Lots to do and great food. Diversity is a huge asset. There are some great schools (Wing Luke, Rainier View) and some schools getting local (Aki Kurose) and national recognition for turnaround (Rainier Beach). Still, there is inequity between North Seattle schools and South Seattle schools. We are under-resourced here, and we donโ€™t have PTSA programs with the financial power of the North Seattle schools to fill in the gaps the way they do."
  • Tom
"Iโ€™ve lived here for almost 4 years and have enjoyed just about everything about this neighborhood. It has the reputation of being unsafe or sketchy, but Iโ€™ve found it to be quite the opposite. The people are welcoming and respectful, and the streets are quiet. Comparatively affordable to the rest of Seattle, it has a lot of first-time home buyers moving in. Itโ€™s close to the water and several parks including Seward and Kubota Gardens. It also has convenient public transportation access (with nearby parking). I do wish we had more grocery store options nearby, and Iโ€™m still not yet used to having to get into the car and drive for even the smallest things, like a cup of coffee, but this is a small price to pay in exchange for everything I love about the neighborhood. As the area begins to gentrify, the city would be well-served to protect and preserve the diversity and history of the neighborhood, which is part of what makes it so great."
  • Drewnevins
"The neighbors are friendly and take pride in upkeep of their homes and the streets. People stop to wave and say hello, and neighbors will regularly get together for BBQs or just to chat about each other's day."
