Description
This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from October 12, 2023
Welcome to the stunning house on the hill, in the heart of Virginia-Highland. Rupley Drive, a 1-way street, is likely the best street in all of Virginia-Highland. This solidly built home is a neighborhood classic, delivering the character of the original build and conveniences you're looking for today. The beautiful, discerning design and cleverly appointed kitchen is a dream for any chef (or wannabe chef) with endless counter space, convenient storage, easy access pantry, smart appliance garage, convenient charging station, well-placed task light and more. The main floor delivers a thoughtful and generous flow from the kitchen to the living room and dining room to the huge front porch. The natural flow into the garden from the kitchen becomes an extension of your living space. Low-maintenance synthetic turf makes the back yard carefree year-round. Coffered ceilings, original hardwood inlays, and plate railing in the dining room are hallmarks to the Craftsman style of this home. This integrity continues upstairs with three, large bedrooms. The primary suite was recently remodeled to include a steam shower, soaking tub, double vanity, walk-in closet and a huge skylight. The secluded balcony off the primary suite faces west, mornings on the balcony are the perfect wakeup. (Primary suite and kitchen were custom designed by acclaimed J Thomas Designs.) Don't miss the huge basement. Dry, well-lit and with high ceilings, the space works well for storage or a small workshop. Ditto for the attic space where more storage is available. This home covers details that you could easily miss: irrigation, gutters feeding into underground drains, kitchen features like pull-out counter extenders, charging stations, surprising storage nooks...it's a MUST SEE! Rupley is a permit parking street; residents or guest permits only from noon to midnight, 7 days a week.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHorrible organization and horrible leadership, in unsafe area, horrible bus transportation that doesn't even come half the time with kids missing, tons of bullying and toxic school environment . Prison like yard for lunch and play. Toxic sludge for food. No regular fitness and only 15 minutes of outside time a day with NOTHING but grass and concrete (not even a ball). Aggressive, unprofessional, bullying, raging teaches who treat young kids like they are criminal teenagers. Teachers don't teach and just rely on tech button clicking multiple choice software for their lessons. Kids are treated like robots and allowed to bully other kids, learning best from teachers that a bullying is okay. Hateful place and kids using dr*gs in bathroomsParent Review4w ago - Midtown High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended Grady for two years (junior and senior) after attending a DeKalb County high school for two years, and the change was unbelievable. Granted, I took 10 AP classes during my time at Grady so my view is not holistic, but I absolutely loved my two years at GHS. I had many, many amazing teachers (notably Nichols for AP Calculus and Pope for AP US History), and I was heavily involved with the school's theatre and chorus programs. Grady students are very passionate about their interests (of which there are many), and the growing culture of academic competitiveness did wonders for my grades. That being said, the administration is kind of a mess and the school is not without its problems, but if you don't go looking for trouble you probably won't run into any.Other Review6y ago - Springdale Park Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI had to ask around because I never encountered a school environment that was more catty or passive aggressive. The school was dedicated to moving blame and doing as little as possible. The principals and their inner circle act like high school bullies and it is uncomfortable. My child was getting punched and bullied. When I expressed concern to my child's teacher, the teacher was reprimanded, and my child continued to be harassed. It is unbelievable that my child's education was severely impacted at such a young age, and the only person punished was the teacher who tried to help us.I do not understand why students with behavior problems, who take away from other children's learning, get priority and get to avoid consequences. This school is a glowing example of toxic Yuppie culture, and handholding to make bad families feel good about themselves. The school and principals may look bright and shiny, but they work hard to hide their toxicity and no-discipline policies.Parent Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 980 Rupley Dr NE.
