  • Madison Potosky
"Local events downtown and festivals, sport clubs, live music and entertainment. Community swaps, books clubs and tours. "
  • Tasavage85
"We travel here for months at a time for my husband’s job. We love it here. There is a reason that we keep coming back. It has a small town feel with an ocean. There’s plenty of places to eat. You could eat someone different every night for a while and still not run out of new places to try. Everything closes quite early which is an okay thing. Coming from a bigger city, my experience is that the later things stay open, the more trouble is made. I enjoy it here. Feels like a second home."
  • WJ R.
"I am a Florida Native. This area has one of the very best beaches, clean, safe, well thought through designs everywhere. There is something for everyone here, boating, fishing, sailing, luxury shopping, restaurants galore, arts and crafts, festivals, churches, hospital, specialty doctors/dentists, trails, Ft. Clinch State Park, Farmers Market, if you can dream it we have it! Leave only your footprints.... One mile to the beautiful Atlantic Ocean, a short walk or bike ride."
  • Ashley
"Not enough public dog parks to let off of leash to play and socialize, have to be on leash on beaches so can’t run. "
  • Reiftonyasky
"Traffic is easy. Never any issues. You can get most anywhere in 10 minutes or less. I lived in a city before moving here so always appreciate the ease."
  • David Maples
"Love it here because the weather not too hot and not too cold, people’s friendliness and great school for my kids."
  • Dhill310
"Very busy during work traffic times. Getting on and off the island is miserable. Traffic lights aren’t coordinated, long waiting times between lights. No real public transportation. Tough to travel around island unless weekend."
  • James Sever
"See lots of dog walkers around as well as drinking in cars. Lisa of dogs on the beaches as well, playing in the surf. "
  • Dhill310
"Tough commuting. Humid too. A lot of people driving on and off island creates traffic nightmare. "
  • Eliz.cerimele
"Lovely neighborhood, friendly people. Lots of dogs! YMCA, church, and coffee shop in the neighborhood."
  • Brannen2646
"I’m here visiting on vacation but am looking to purchase property in this area. This area is beautiful and the people in this area are very nice. "
  • Wilson &.
"I have lived here for 22 years, it is quiet, safe, well-lit and dog friendly. Many walkers, gardeners, and is a big quilt of folks bringing a variety of blends. It's centrally located, two blocks from the city and all the amenities you could dream of. You can stroll to the beautiful ocean, downtown historic district, shop, dine and play."
  • Linda K.
"Great vibe of friendly people. Safe area lots to explore and see. Beautiful foliage. Feels more like the south than Fla"
  • Cathy S.
"There is always a celebration of some kind going on. The pirate theme is big here and out Shrimpfest is a lot of fun."
  • Paschahj
"This is a nice area and we have not had any bad experience. There is always nice yards and people walking day and night. If you want a safe nice place for kids this is the place to live. The schools are really good here as well. "
  • Cbschultz
"Centre Street has always welcomed our 4 legged pets outside the coffee shop, sharing space with the pocket parks. Many of the shops have water bowls out."
  • Harychatchell
"This is a very friendly dog island. We have a wonderful dog park close by which has it own bone shaped swimming pool."
  • Richard C.
"Safe, small town feel, friendly easy to travel anywhere on the island without any traffic to speak of. "
  • Harychatchell
"Small, Beautiful place, not as close knit or friendly as in the past. Developers are building anything they can on postage size lots. Traffic is increasing fast and tempers are starting to show. I bought beautiful home 900 yards from the ocean, next to the Ritz Carlton and am considering moving away."
  • Karinelittle
"Lots of dogs are walked here. There is an award winning dog park on the island. There are bag stations throughout for pet pick ups. "
  • Karinelittle
"Great area convenient to the beach, Kingsland, and Jacksonville. Pleasant neighborhood. Lots of recreational activities. Great schools. "
  • Karinelittle
"Decent commute to Jax and surrounding areas. Close to beaches and downtown events. Traffic is not too congested. Lots of construction in the area. "
  • Redwoodbeans
"I have lived here for 2 years. it is my favorite neighborhood on the island. Everyone is very friendly."

"Sometimes a neighbors dog gets loose. Which is a pain when your trying to walk your dog or are waking with kids. "
  • RiRi D.
"Whole island especially downtown Fernandina is very dog friendly which is great for dogs and owners. Many shop owners provide treats daily for dogs. Dogs are usually allowed on leash on the beach, except during pandemic when everyone is prohibited from beach. "
  • Coco47287
"its very quiet nobody bothers you and is quite dark and nights, the beach is so close and windy I really like this place for retirement "
  • Arkiesnny
"Unpretentious small town unspoiled by high rise apartments. Great supermarkets and shopping. Many single owned restaurants with good food. "
  • Skitterwalkingman
"Small town feel great place to live for the outdoor enthusiast ,Always something happening in the community with a great emphasis on family"
  • Judith62551
"Nothing is great about this neighborhood. Parking is limited. Entrances to garage is through an alley and entering and exiting your garage is putting your vehicle at risk from trees which are not trimmed or maintained. Owners are responsible for cleaning the community sidewalks. Property sits right on top of the house next to you. Absolutely no privacy here at all. "
  • Kathy N.
"Great place to live and call home. Fernandina Beach has a town feel whether your downtown, at the beaches, on the monks or in the country. "
  • Jabberjawsue52
"I visit here every year for vacation and love it and the unique shops on central! Love this place and the friendly people that live and work here, most favorite place to vacation."
  • Amenx77
"Safe. Mostly senior citizens live on island. Very friendly people although my street has no children. "
  • Tabitha D.
"We have a neighborhood block party every year, and the since of community is overwhelmingly friendly. I have a special needs child and he receives an excellent education from amazing teachers who support his growth."
  • Marchell55
"A car or a bicycle is required to get to the historic or downtown area of Fernandina Beach. It is approximately a 15 minute drive to interstate 95."

  • Jennifer S.
"Kids play outside here, it’s wonderful, everyone walks, ride bikes etc, the beach is awesome, not crowded, very clean, many activities "
