I’m not sure why this school has gotten such a bad reputation over the years. But I have nothing negative to say about this school, matter of fact it is quite the opposite. I have nothing but great things to say. This school helps the kids thrive and succeed in their education. They build them confidence in themselves and learning. The teachers are fantastic. The school makes sure to stay in contact constantly with parents for any of their needs or their children’s needs. I have not heard of any bullying problems. All I’ve ever seen is kids getting along. my son is thriving here and I intend to send my daughter here next year as well. The school has won multiple awards for high test scores and for exceeding above average in education. I am very pleased all around with what this school has to offer my children. I live in the neighborhood and an proud to have 2 amazing school in my neighborhood.P.S. as a parent if you ever have any concerns, please talk to the school and take a tour before you make any judgments on the school itself.

Administration is terribly unsupportive, unresponsive, unprofessional, and lacking in overall professionalism. Overcrowded due to an entire side of the city being forced into the school despite many other high schools being in the area. Transportation is a nightmare. Athletics are a joke, they haven't had an indoor track team for years and they don't seem to care much about having one.

I have been impressed with the school and student culture improvements/changes that have been made and the way, as a parent, I can relate to as well as understand the complexity of public education in my community. It takes a village is becoming a part of what has made this school exceptional since 2008, making me internally wonder what this community had before River Oaks Academy was built and what will public education look like as the nearby police station finishes construction and traffic increases and population growth along with residential developments and lesser parks/green space evolves.
