Read what parents are saying about West Mecklenburg HighAdministration is terribly unsupportive, unresponsive, unprofessional, and lacking in overall professionalism. Overcrowded due to an entire side of the city being forced into the school despite many other high schools being in the area. Transportation is a nightmare. Athletics are a joke, they haven't had an indoor track team for years and they don't seem to care much about having one.

I feel that many of the staff members lack professionalism, and the teachers are not really teaching or safeguarding the children. The school is old and is poorly cleaned. My child complained about how disgusting the restrooms are and how they hardly ever have toilet paper or soap. Lacks special education support and adherence to programs.
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2024My daughter is a freshman and is in JROTC. The principal and staff are very caring. The PTSA and the booster club really care about the students and what they are trying to do. They had an excellent Athletic program with great coaches expecially coach Lawing. They also have many different options for kids to take study courses.

Read the handbook. This school does a great job using Abeka to teach. You have the option to fundraise. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teacher turnover for 2022-2023 was high. Extracurriculars were not effective - true STEM did not occur for lower level and clubs were inconsistent. Extra support for advance learners did not occur for lower level as there was not enough staff support. The main positives are the social activities in dances, showcases, sports, and trips. If social engagement is important then this school is high on those activities. Safety awareness is high however cleanliness of classrooms/building and alerts on spread of pink eye and covid is not high priority to communicate to families.Parent Review11mo ago
