"Red flag not a good community to live in always shooting and police activity. Not a safe place for children at all"
  • Tayvia Mcdowell
"Make it feel safe to have your kids around also no high percentage of breaks in or robbery’s. I also like how some churches provide services too"

"I live in the neighborhood now I've been around here for 16 years and I have not had any trouble It feels safe to me and the neighborhood is still growing trying to bring more business in the neighborhood make schools more safer make the neighborhood safer"
  • Trulia User
"It can and should be better not as much crime as the surrounding neighborhood . It is close to Public Transportation, parks , and Stores that is a plus "
  • Terrance E.
"I've lived in the neighborhood just over a year now, as I have walked through the neighborhood with my dog and driven through it. There is Barton Elementary school close by and the area seems pet friendly. 79th street is busy with a lot of negative activity the further east you go. However the further west you go becomes more peaceful and family oriented. There are several new shopping options like Walmart, Dollar Tree and Aldi that have opened on 76th and Ashland. The community has both homes and rental apts available, however there seems to be an uptick in rehabbed home sales that are causing the home values to significantly increase to 200k plus, several have listed for 300k that were complete rehabbed homes. The good news is younger families are moving in purchasing the rehabbed homes, and many long term residents have lived in their homes 30 plus years. Most of the blocks are quiet, you dont see gangs on the corners, nor do you see drug dealing or prostitution. the area has a city of chicago incentive zone, so many police, teachers, fireman and other city "
  • Trulia User
"People walk their dogs often. Pets are welcome. Neighbors, work together in the community as it relates to pets. "
  • Trulia User
"You will see the neighbors walking their dogs and cleaning up the mess, the dogs are always on their leashes."
  • Trulia User
"It’s a dog friendly neighborhood huge park in the area for pet to play and get great exercise I see others walking their dogs as well"
  • Trulia User
"Decent neighborhood. Pretty quiet on the block I live, can’t say the same about the neighborhood as a whole."
  • Trulia User
"It's a dog-friendly neighborhood. There should be no problems with owning or having a dog as a pet here."
  • Trulia User
"Visited with group of friends. Heard really bad things about this neighborhood. Entirely different from most areas"

  • Sharvon H.
"There are a lot of home owners in this neighborhood. There are grocery stores and this a well maintained area. The crime rate is kinda high and but you might wanna watch out for your packages"
  • BARBARA H.
"I ride public transportation in which I enjoy traveling on the bus but will be getting a vehicle soon."
