9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe academic side of La Serna has been amazing in my sons 2+ years at the school.Now for the bad, The athletics department is mediocre at best, unless it is Football, then they go all out. The school supplies the Baseball teams a total of $600 a year (per our head coach) which doesn't even cover the cost of baseballs for the year. Our Athletic Director has booked 2 (of the 4 we have had so far) games at the same time as Cross Country meets which at least the first time we found out the morning of the game, 2 hours prior. Today we had a team from Baldwin Park, their coaches and parents, the umpire and our team, coaches and parents there. Baseball of course got bumped until 11:30.As a business owner, incompetence in your field is unacceptable, but I guess when you have tenure and are the (winning) Football coach you can be incompetent as Athletic Director and keep your position.Parent Review6mo ago - East Whittier Middle School

The teachers and district are very engaged and in contact contact through the parent's portal or via Instagram. I also particularly appreciate the PTA team who is extremely engaged in school activities and programs. "I’m a Senior we have Dial -A- Ride we have access to get us back-and-forth the cost for access is a little high but overall when you’re going to distance the price is better than a taxi cab I feel comfortable walking at night with my little dog shopping is wonderful places to eat is the best moving to Whittier was the best thing I ever did"

"I love the hills and uptown Whittier. Neighbors are great- would love living here but for the hikers and cyclists. The popularity of our canyons and the rudeness of the hikers/cyclists has decreased the desirability over the past 5 years. We don’t need their trash their noise or their vehicles blocking our access. The parking on weekends because of the canyon is impossible. "
