"Not easy to get out of Ballard. Over crowded streets, too many cars for such a small area with not a lot of main streets or highways to go from east to west or vice versa. The public transit isn’t great, rarely on time. "
  • Hailey Merrill
"Lots of families, parks and kids playing around the neighborhood. Seems very safe and a cool community center available. "
  • Windy G.
"Easy walk, easy bus routes, easy drive. Close to anything and everything I need! I am very satisfied with all methods of commute and time!"
  • Keni E.
"Public transportation is readily available - drive to get to the freeway takes some time though and this area is getting busier "
  • Kye M.
"Its a lovely community, safer than most. i would consider raising my child here, its one of the few places ive thought about doing that, as im originally from New Zealand."
  • Olivia D.
"Lots of dogs and dog walking opportunities. Close to golden gardens off leash area. Most restaurant patios allow dogs too. "
  • Nikki6
"Great neighborhood. Can walk to several areas with restaurants and music. Great walkability and close to bus transportation."
  • Leon j.
"Lots of great places to take your pup including golden gardens dog park. There are also parks and trails all over the community. "
  • Dajaffe2003
"just moved here and love it. safe and quiet and family oriented with great access to all that Seattle has to offer. "
  • Mark F.
"When we moved to Seattle we first lived here for many years. It was like a city within a city for us, very neighborly and a great place for kids. It's a little more active now but it is a great place for anyone who wants a mix of small-town and fun places to go."
  • Nicolehe
"I've lived here for 4 years and I LOVE this neighborhood. It's a great mix of young adults, families and long-time Ballard residents. You have apartments, condos, townhomes and single family homes all mixed together. You're close to all the shops, restaurants, and bars but far enough that it's a little less noisy and crowded. It feels like a mix of city feel plus suburban relaxation. It feels pretty safe although there are the occasional loud partiers walking through the neighborhood."
  • Amcgougan06
"I've lived in Ballard for almost two years and don't plan to move for many years. It's a quiet neighborhood with young families and about 10 blocks away from market st which has over a dozen restaurants and shops. Ballard also has a farmers market on sunday's! "
  • sallyb
"Not many neighborhoods (with the exception of Capitol Hill) give folks the ability to walk to almost everything from a hospital, to churches, grocery stores, schools and a plethora of fine dining and stores."
  • Tnoble80
"We have lived here for over two years, and we are simply so fortunate to live in a safe neighborhood that is kid and dog-friendly. Walk to grab coffee, and then stroll over to see the beautiful water of the sound. Enjoy the neighborhood feel all while being only 1 mile away from the restaurants and entertainment on Market Street and Ballard Ave. "
