Description
This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from September 30, 2023
Beautifully renovated Hansell Hall 1925 Spanish home on a beautiful block in Historic Flamingo Park. Both the house and the hard-to-find 2-car garage are hollow tile construction. The original pecky cypress front door and Herpel stone surroundings with outstanding landscaping make a great front to face the street. The rear is perfect to make the garage a large guest cottage and still have room for a pool and entertaining. High on the hill; no sea-level rise here! When renovated much attention was paid to detail and architectural integrity. The house was gutted and all electric and plumbing replaced, floor joists were replaced, new subfloor laid, vapor barrier included and the original floors relaid (no sloping!) and refinished. Walls are 3/4'' sheet rock resulting in sound insulation. Quality crown molding and baseboards were added. The house has copper gutters, Cat-5 wiring and an internal sound system. Kitchen and baths were redone in excellent architectural style. All counter surfaces are granite. The kitchen features upgraded appliances, a center work island and custom cabinets. Stove, water heater and dryer are gas. The huge, private master bedroom has a large walk-in closet and double French doors to a small rear patio. The master bath has walk-in shower with multiple shower jets; the guest bath has a Jacuzzi tub. The garage could be turned into a large guest cottage and there is still room for a pool. The garage doors and doors to both bedrooms are hurricane; the others are Marvin aluminum wood clad casements with hurricane panels. All renovation work done with permits.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wish I could give this place Zero stars. Stay away from this school if you don't want your kids to change 5 teachers in less than a year which would make a big impact on your kids’ performance. I wished that I looked them up before I went and registered my kids to this school. They constantly changed my kids’ class every 3 weeks because of unprofessional teachers that didn't come to work. This is the worst experience I ever had. I’ve never seen anything like this before, not even in my experience when I was at school. They give homework to the kids that is beyond their capacity and grade level that is higher than their class, the homework is not even for the right grade. I can’t to get my kids out of this school.Parent Review2y ago - Conniston Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall, my child has been very happy since she moved from bak middle school. Bak is a great school but has a lot of pressure on my child. On the other hand, connistonhas been a very good school for my daughter and she has made so many friends! Really would recommend this school for your childrenParent Review1y ago - Forest Hill Community High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI noticed that there were no recent reviews of the school, so I decided I would add one. I am a Forest Hill alumni from the class of 2020. There are very few reasons why someone would actually want to go here. One bright spot in my experience was the environmental science academy. The teachers genuinely cared about what they taught and helped to prepare me for college. There were definitely outstanding teachers (like Mr. McCall and Ms. Skowron), but they are few and far between. The school is extremely overcrowded (30 students to a class at the very minimum), which meant working one-on-one with teachers was virtually impossible. The guidance counselors were generally well-meaning, but unfortunately had too many kids to know what to do with them. As some have previously mentioned, there is a great deal of favoritism towards the football team and JROTC, with little attention and funding going towards other sports, arts, and clubs. The leadership is essentially nonexistent and have no idea how to deal with students other than yelling at them and giving them lunch detentions. There was also rampant bullying that was never properly dealt with. Faculty was supposedly going to investigate rampant bullying in the band program, which (shocker!) never happened. The bullying became so bad that many members quit. I have heard similar stories across other clubs and sports. The school was poorly maintained, with over half of the bathrooms being nonfunctional throughout my four years and several lacking stall doors. The amount of issues myself and others had to deal with were not worth the AP/IB/AICE/ honors programs, which are for the most part subpar. The only thing Forest Hill is good at is fostering a culture of indifference. At least the cafeteria food was good.Other Review2y ago - Village Academy On The Art & Sara Jo Kobacker Campus

"This historic neighborhood have a strong community presence including the annual Holiday Home Tour and monthly social events. As proud homeowners of unique and historic homes, neighbors invite one another in for a personal tour of one's home as a friendly gesture. Just a short bike ride to the beach or downtown's restraints and bars, this is a great place for families, you couples and retirees. "
