8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school, while highly recommended scholastically, is reprehensible when it comes to racism and bullying. If you have a student of color, STEER CLEAR!!! They will lie to your face telling you they care about your student's education and future all while falsely accusing them of all sorts of ridiculousness from small issues of bathroom usage to drug use. If your student of color is harassed or the victim of bullying, they will have a meeting about it with you then do nothing to the student (usually a white student) that was the aggressor. They will find every angle to turn it against a student of color. The staff is just as guilty of it as the white students. They will maliciously try to do everything to get your student in trouble with, what I'm convinced of, the end goal being expulsion. The school district even recently voted to reduce the number of students coming in under open enrollment because they didn't want as many students of color coming from Milwaukee (paraphrased from a conversation with a board member). The school board also had quite a battle to keep even more racists off their board last year (2023). It was very close but thankfully they succeeded. It didn't solve the race issue, but it kept it from getting worse. This entire school district has traumatized my kids to the point where they have to be on anxiety medication. I can't afford private school and my only other cost- and time-effective alternative is MPS (Milwaukee Public Schools) which is not an option by educational standards. If you are lucky enough to have options, choose them over MTSD, especially Homestead.Parent Review3mo ago - Steffen Middle School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSteffen Middle School is by far an excellent school. My child was very well prepared for high school after completing 3 years at Steffen. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to help all students achieve their best. The principal is a great leader and well respected throughout the district.Parent Review11y ago - Wilson Elementary School

"Lots of dog lovers/owners live in our area and we see them very frequently walking their dogs on the streets and many footpaths in close proximity to our home. There is a converted rail Ed footpath immediately next to our residence building and it extends for several miles in each direction( north & south, connecting with innumerable streets and other neighborhoods we are walking distance to the newly developed river walk and the large riverfront village park where public festivals are held each summer and Fall. Manrestaurants are within one mile or less from our home from burger and pizza places to haute cuisine, Zagat-rated restaurants with excellent wine lists. Very broad range of offerings. "

"It’s close to milwaukee but feels like the country. Big yards, space, nature. Lots of amenities nearby. Lower taxes. "

"Great schools and lots of park options, but understand this is a more rural city spread out over about 48 sq. mi. So you’ll be driving the kids to many places and we’re my kids still young enough to to use their bikes, there are a number of busier or faster-limited roads on which I would be skittish about allowing them to ride without immediate adult supervision. BUT... there are many high-end subdivision which favor lower speeds and have a more tranquil, quieter and more peaceful character"

"Great place to raise your children! Mequon schools are some of the best! Very safe and quiet neighborhoods, very friendly people. I would definitely raise my family here. My wife went to all the mequon schools and has nothing but great things to say about them. "

"There’s a healthy Community “pride” in the vast majority of Mequon’s neighborhoods. It’s still a semi-rural city more than a “sub-urban” city with roughly 40%of the geography in farmstead p try operatives or estate-sized parcels of a 5-acre minimum. Some high-end subdivisions, but not the mass-production type, with McMansions, found in over-developed areas with low architectural standards such as those based only upon high square footage minimums, not character of construction execution."
