Available starting October 1, this charming carriage house built in 1890 in the heart of historic Capitol Hill, is fully updated with high end kitchen & bath fixtures, including 2 clawfoot tubs; has game/book stocked library. Open concept main floor features carriage house doors that open to sitting garden, natural stone floors, and farmtable (seats 10). Approx. 10 min walk to Capitol/National Mall/museums, Union Station & Eastern Market metros, H Street restaurants/bars. 15 min walk to Georgetown Law Center. 15 min bike ride to downtown. It is the original carriage house to the hospital that is now located on the next block. The house has been many things in its life, including: an old barn, a storage facility, a machine shop, and a plumbing shop. It was our home for 13 years until we moved in 2016. We have renovated the space with an eye toward restoration where practical. The floors flags of natural, irregular Tennessee limestone. Two sets of carriage house doors are fully functioning swing-in doors. The original hayloft door has been re-opened. There are some quirks (like a random spigot inside the house that is apparently still attached to one of the city's main water lines and cannot be turned off). Additional photos on request.
