"I live in Descanso in this very house! I've lived here for nearly 11 years and I've loved every minute of it. Great hiking and biking trails nearby, a friendly and involved community, freeway close to San Diego (30 minute commute to my job), and four seasons! It's a beautiful peaceful little town. This house sits on a main street (not very "main" compared to a city), meaning that it is PLOWED when it snows and it's always easy to get in and out. I'd definitely stay but retirement and a different income is compelling me to leave. "
  • Martha
"Descanso has one of the best elementary schools in San Diego County. It's a lively and historic country community on the edge of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. Even with the definite country feel, it is only 15 minutes from supermarkets and the usual things people need. Many Descanso residents commute to San Diego for work every day. It usually snows two or three times a winter. Descanso has four seasons and beautiful lilac bushes in spring. "

"I live in Descanso and it is a very quiet place, no sidewalks or buses, there are 2 places to eat and a small store with gas as well as a post office. Mainly a place for horses and cattle."
  • Mrs M.
"lived in Pine Valley and the beauty is better then anywhere else. The folks are friendly and you can walk everywhere and in safety."
  • Martha
"This is a great small town for families (great schools, with a historic elementary school within walking distance) and a very active public library with many great programs. There are three small stores and two small restaurants, a post-office (no waiting in line!!!!) and a gas station. The community is friendly and it's a beautiful place to live. "
