I went to this school for the 7th grade last year, I would say it’s not the best school to go to. There was always shootings nearby, even behind the school. Some of the kids even carried weapons around around the school and threatened others. If you don’t look or act a certain way there’s a high chance you or you kid will be bullied.The staff here were really supportive, if you were having a problem with other students, teachers, and stuff just in general they are most likely to support you and help you out. Teacher’s were not the best, most of them are good at teaching and explain well. A couple of the teachers didn’t teach you and you were able to be on your phone, call people, watch movies, eat in class, and the teacher would tell you to be quiet so that the other teachers next door wouldn’t tell someone else, they would also tell us we couldn’t tell another teacher.I wouldn’t go to this school again if I could.

Great school, except the fact that there is only one bathroom open at a time EVER and There are 10 boys in there at a Time.

This school has really upset me. My child attends kindergarten there. They organized a New Year's concert, and my child and I discussed it; he was happy that his parents would come to support him. The school sent out announcements about the performance times for each class. My husband specifically took time off work to support our child. My son's class was supposed to perform at 8:30. We arrived at 8:20, and what do you think? They simply wouldn't let us in because there weren't enough seats. Why didn't the school issue tickets so that only the children's parents could attend the concert? And when I heard that my son's class was performing, I told the principal that my son was performing right now and I wanted to support him, but she said she couldn't help and that we should come at 10:45. But my husband took time off work to support him at 8:30, and he wouldn't be able to be there at 10:45. Everything was so disorganized; I'm very upset, and I feel sorry for my child, to whom I promised I would be there, and I couldn't support him when he needed it...

My older son is now a junior at Cleveland. His experience has been wonderful. He entered the Humanities Program after being in the Humanities Academy at Walter Reed Middle School. He was a decent student in middle school but has become a really engaged student as a result of the support and challenge of his teachers and community. He also plays on a team for the school. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a welcoming and supportive experience.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences has been an amazing experience for our family. They have exceeded our expectations in every way. My daughter is a senior and has been at VAAS all 4 years. She feels heard by her teachers and is thriving in her academics greatly because of the endless dedication of the teachers, staff and administration. She's active in extracurricular activities and clubs. As a parent I feel that the extra activities and the friends that you make during those times is what they really take away from high school. The caring and compassionate environment gives the students a strong sense of belonging and feeling confident to be themselves. My daughter will be graduation high school with high very grades, achievements & awards, which makes me very proud but the things that brings me the most joy is her confidence, the amazing friends that she's made and her sense of accomplishment. Her high school experience has been a wonderful experience, and I can't thank VAAS enough.
