My husband and I are public school supporters and wanted to make Flynn Park work for our family. Unfortunately, it was the wrong environment for our daughter, and we waited too long to transition to an independent school. I will note that our daughter started Kindergarten during COVID and the school leadership was in flux. We recognize COVID negatively impacted many kids and schools. Given that I would offer a few cautions and themes around our experience at Flynn Park:- If your child is not gifted and talented, an average learner who is more reserved, they may be overlooked and left behind for more vocal, G&T or disruptive kids. Our daughter often got average below average marks but no calls for concern that she was majorly behind until 3rd grade. - Ensure they have adequate support to do focused interventions. When we learned how far behind she was in Math, we were told they did not have resources for math intervention and we had to wait several months for them to find her support. - Inexperienced and overwhelmed teachers still on staff to this day (12/2025). Our daughter’s third grade teacher was brand new to teaching and struggled to manage the classroom, leaving our daughter overwhelmed most days. Unable to address the environment, our daughter often left the classroom to see the guidance counselor Ms Ross who is a total gem/rock star (the bright spot). However, that prevented her from learning critical skills. When we made the decision to leave and go to an independent school, our daughter was so far behind, we had to hold her back a grade. A year later we are still catching her up on Math.

U. City has great public schools that prepared me for college & the real world. I'm a proud recent alum!

Brittany Woods is a great school and I had a positive experience there-- it prepared me well for college and the real world.
