Description

This property is no longer available to rent or to buy. This description is from March 25, 2024
This Classic Historic Mediterranean Revival home, perched high on a hill overlooks the village of Laguna Beach and panoramic views of the Pacific ocean from the arcaded porch and beamed ceiling living room. This majestic home, built in 1932 for J.W. Bishop, is still a beacon shining over the whitewater, coastline, city lights, and Catalina Island views that the original owner envisioned. This iconic three bedroom, three bathroom home was completely remodeled, upgraded and restored in 2018, while keeping a nod to its history. The interior now contains features for a discerning owner, featuring walnut & stone flooring throughout, gourmet kitchen with custom cabinetry and a La Cornue 36” range. The interior features chosen dramatically enhanced, and also added continuity, such as solid walnut doors and classic tiled bathrooms, all while maintaining the home’s classic Spanish beauty. The beauty continues just outside the back door, thanks to a large backyard dining area with fountain, spacious lawn and fire pit. The arcaded porch, at the front of the home not only brings the ocean to you, but steps to the professionally designed landscaping, and lush front yard, with a second fire pit and two large seating areas . . . . perfect for watching and toasting to the magnificent sunsets. One hundred and five ficus trees surround three sides of the home to provide privacy and elegance. Perfectly situated four blocks from Main Beach and three blocks from downtown, shopping, dining, and coastal activities. A Tesla charger has been added to the garage, and Halo water filtration throughout. This one-of-a-kind gem is a one of a kind historic jewel is on the Historic Register and enjoys Mills Act benefits.

What Locals Say about Laguna Beach

  • Sabrina Skelly
"Good family neighborhood, nice area, low crime. No sidewalks, so street infrastructure can be unsafe. Parks are driving distance, not many parks in walking distance. PCH and bad drivers are a larger risk. "

"The Laguna beach dog park is the best in the county! 3 acres. Gorgeous maintained. Very dog friendly community. Beaches are dog friendly during off season."

"I live in Rancho Laguna neighborhood and it is totally different from the village. It is where we join the world of nature and the ocean Surrounding it. We also have much better parking and a designated trolley to bring us into the village. One day you see a family of coyotes raising their young and the next you see deer frolicking in the meadow. It is the secret sanctuary of Orange County. "

"Our neighborhood has Moulton Meadows Park where children play soccer and neighbors play tennis and basketball. Lots of dog walking going on! Our block closes down one Sunday in the summer for a block party where we meet our neighbors and have pot luck. Halloween we go down to Oak Street to see and be seen in costumes."
