"I live in Jackson County. If you are selecting a property in Jackson County it is so that you can get away from the city. Yet the north west side of the county has easy access to both Berea and Richmond, and the south county has easy access to London and Manchester. There are no side walks and many roads in Jackson county are narrow, so there isn't room for street parking. You will want a car to get around the county and to go to neighboring counties. You may want a 4x4 vehicle for snowy weather. I've never had a big problem with traffic. Even rush hour isn't too bad. Jackson County is a dry county. There are some community parks that are nice, but you may have to travel to get to them. There is essentially no night life, and no public transportation. Entertainment in the form of Bluegrass music is very popular here in the county and there are many various outdoor activities to participate in. Many county events, classes, clubs, ect. Many of the gas station convenient stores also have a grill / oven with various hot meal menus (smoking permitted in most locations)-Pizza is very popular. One Mexican restaurant, DQ, Subway and pizza place in McKee, other restaurants in the Annville area. One pizza place in Sandgap and a few hamburger stands through out the community. More options in surrounding communities. Schools are average, with limited extracurricular activities. Only one public pool in Jackson County (Annville). There are other public pools in surrounding counties. Never had a problem or fear of safety, though no community is perfect. Most people have cats and dogs, and many more have farm animals and horses. Cleanliness- well some spots are better cared for than others."
