Comment about youngster in pre-K below, we had a great experience. Parents need to read the information provided about it. It is play based per state rules.

Would completely recommend a private school. Some teachers are nice, others just don't care, and others care too much acting like their job is a Jail Warden, or even as far as a drill sergeant. Teachers constantly overload students with new packets and projects daily that students can't keep on with. The county's constant and excessive ban on numerous websites, even brain-stimulating games such as New York Time's Wordle or Connections constantly lessens student's moral throughout the day, students need a break, and a 20 minute break isn't enough for that. We are expected to work all day long, then when we get home, and if we don't, students such as myself take the punishment which comes with turning in 'late' work. How can all 7 teachers expect for students to put their class's homework as a priority, then when they turn in work a day late, they get points off.Onto my second point, the use of vapes, and drugs. Classes and bathrooms constantly smell of MARIJUANA, or of the various vape flavors. Teachers and Administrators could be doing so much more than what they do to 'enforce' the law.

I highly advise you against sending your students to this school if you can help it. If your student is not already a self-motivated high-perform, they will languish in the classrooms at Lakeside Middle School. At this school, their preferred method of teaching is through videos and an online learning platform called "iReady". That is to say, their preferred method of teaching is to not teach and to delegate it to useless computer software. Then, they pat themselves on the back for having "satisfactory metrics" but, in reality, they're either curving the metrics or allowing the students to retake it until they get enough right. Sadly, though, the students aren't learning any material...they're just learning to guess better to get out of these moronic iReady modules. What is being done at Lakeside Middle School should, frankly, be illegal. To be honest, it likely will be illegal in the future, but it'll be too little too late for the kids that are currently experiencing this video/iReady-first style of teaching.As you might expect, in an age where kids' attention spans have been whittled away down to zero through the prolific use of screens at home, putting another screen in front of them is a terrible idea. If you wanted to go this route, you would need to invest heavily in training your student's attention spans so that they can engage with the "learning screen" in a productive way. Of course, this doesn't happen. At Lakeside Middle School, the administration is more than happy to plop them down in front of a screen and hope for the best.
