My son is a 4th grader @ SCES and in the GT program....We are very proud of him! Without the support and guidance of the staff he would not excel to his best ! A great big Thank you to all of the staff....It's you that is helping us , as parents to develop these young minds into something spectacular !! A great school with excellent teachers....strong principal & school leadership and challenging academic programs

Most of the staff are very racially motivated. I had many classes with people of color and the teachers love to pick them out of the crowd of students and quite literally bully them. Also, if you have a learning disability they will set you in a special Ed room for one class period and then go on with regular classes for the rest of the day with no extra help. The students are incredibly rude to everyone including special ed. Most teachers don’t teach they just post something on google classroom and expect the students to teach themselves. If you have any questions they will just tell you that you should pay attention more and that it’s not their problem to deal with. If you have any mental health issues and you go to the counselor to talk about it they will do whatever they can to help with the principles okay, except the principal will almost 100% say no to anything that doesn't relate to sports especially the football team. They recently started to take out classes and put them into the gym during the study hall period and tell them to do their work when they can, ironically as they are keeping us from doing our work in the only period of the day when we have free time. Then proceed to make all the students watch their peers play dodgeball or other “fun” activities. Once a month they have a special day for the special students that reach their expectations and let them go play games and watch movies either in the gym or outside in the football field. As a former student most of the kids that I was around hated their classes, peers and teachers. No one liked the school lunches or quite literally anything at this school. I can say with complete certainty that over 80% of the students in spencer county schools hate it there.

Horrible... Communication is non existant when we are trying to help our son transition to this school.
