My son enjoyed 6th grade at MS126 and is looking forward going into 7th. The school provides a strong foundation and shows genuine interest in our kids. The principal Mr. Goettleman is absolutely wonderful ! he has made lots of improvements in the school which has turned it around. They offer a lot of exposure to our children providing different programs and activities, and they provide a terrific learning environment with programs in STEM. The school is committed to innovative methods of teaching to help students excel academically and being one of the smaller middle schools in the area they have more one on one time with teachers and better communication in the classroom. The staff and teachers at MS126 show a lot of interest in our kids they connect with students and we appreciate them !Thank you !

I have to give 132 credit for getting themselves and our kids through the pandemic. Honestly, it is impressive that my kindergartner was able to progress on schedule with reading, math and communication skills given the extraordinary circumstances presented by the 2020-2021 school year. Even with the circumstances and challenges of remote learning, we were happy with the school up until Easter, when our child's teacher left on sudden long-term leave. The rest of the year with a sub in place the classroom was chaotic and stressful, even with teacher's aides there to help. We were disconcerted when our kiddo came home and told us she had been pushed by another student in class and that there was frequent name calling. When we approached the sub about this she assured us that our kiddo was going to be placed in G&T for first grade, where she would be more engaged and challenged and have a better classroom environment. So in my mind that was the solution. But we came to find out that for administrative reasons, no new students would be allowed into the G&T program unless they'd been placed on a waiting list the previous year. We were frustrated dealing with the administration and I felt more like a number than a person. We just could not get through to anyone "real" that could hear out our situation or concerns. In the end we decided to place our child in another school to avoid the extra stress of a classroom environment like the one she had for kindergarten at 132. Overall, they did a great job handling the pandemic but more effort to address the needs of students and place them according to their learning level would have kept us there. I can see why candidates campaigned to do away with G&T altogether. It feels like if you don't get in, your school experience can be a wildcard. Now that we have been through this I agree G&T should be done away with and the entire system fixed so that every classroom environment is a good one.

Hello, I'm currently an 11th grader here at WP in the year of our lord and savior: 2024, and overall-while I do admit there are certainly problems-my experience here have been overall positive. For me, the best part of the school is the general atmosphere and sense of community. There are plenty of students and staff who seem to genuinely care about the school and the people within it. Of course, there are many students who don't care or don't put in the effort necessary to do the work, however, there are just as many, if not more who are kind; caring, and want to help others. The school makes a point to encourage students who are doing well to help other both in the community, be it through students ambassadors, the ship awards, volunteer club, college vanguard, and so much more. In terms of work load, I wouldn't say that the work is ever overbearing to the point of absurdity, more so, it can pile up quickly if you allow it, especially if you're taking multiple AP classes such as myself. There have been points when it became a bit much, however, if you manage your time well, and depending on the class and if you ask for help from those around you, the work can go by quickly. That is to say: the main question isn't how much work there is (generally speaking) but moreso how well you can keep up and manage the work you are given. The school also offers a variety of programs for any student willing to participate, being partnered with Global Glimpse, SEO, College Now, The National Honor Society, and more. Furthermore, the school is very focused on preparing you for college, with plenty of AP-Classes, programs, study groups, trips, and a college councilor who'll assist you through the entire college application process. the school-at least currently-even pays for all, or at least most of the expenses for applying to colleges, a rarity for other schools. Overall, it all comes back to the community. The school heavily encourages you to do more and ask for things, it's rather easy to make clubs, become a TA, or ask for new courses, including AP classes. All that's nof even to mention the sports teams and other related fields. To all future WP students and parents, my biggest recommendation would be to do more than is necessary if possible, because there are plenty of great opportunities for you if you don't, regardless of race, sex, gender, political views, disabilities, or any other differentiating characteristics.
