Reading other reviews blows my mind!! I, myself, am a Berlin graduate and have 4 children who attend Berlin now, whom ALL are doing good. My son has needed and received lots of help due to epilepsy. I am proud of him and the teachers for taking their time getting him where he is today. You wouldn't believe the amount of people/teachers who are willing to help one student...AMAZING! He is in 5th grade doing 7th and above grade level work. HUGE improvement. What parents don't realize is that it is ALSO the responsibility for them to help their own children. Teachers do what they can and personally knowing many teachers in the district, they teach not only with knowledge but also with passion. Yes, we do not have the best budget in the world, but who does these days. I love this school and the teachers and think they are doing GREAT jobs. These teachers need to start being acknowledged for what they do and appreciated! All schools have issues and this rating is based on the teaching level, which in turn makes a great school. On another note, Berlin District could def use more parent/community involvement (choice by parent, not schools prob). - Kristy Lemiska

Every teacher my children had in this school was great, and some were truly exceptional. My son started in the kindergarten mid-way through the year, and didn't feel happy for a time. His teacher recognized this, and also his passion for art. She gave him a special project to create a drawing that would become a mural in the school hallway for a special event the school held. His sense of value and belonging was completely transformed by this. Both he and my daughter have always had teachers who cared, and were passionate. They are available when there are questions or concerns. There are students who have special needs, but the school is inclusive and supports them. It has not in any way been a negative for my kids to have children that the stats say perform in a "below average" way. All children have value beyond test scores, and I think this school recognizes that. We are moving soon to be closer to my work, and I feel profound sadness at leaving this school. Thank you Berlin for all you have given my kids!
