  • Trulia User
"Great schools in the area. Parks are great to visit but be mindful of your surroundings. You can visit the beach via public transportation or bike. "
  • Trulia User
"what makes this neighborhood so unique is the character ( maintenances) that are always competing with one another to put there bulk items in the trash so that there building will get there trash picked up first"
  • Trulia User
"be safe and communicate For should stick together help keep nice and healthy clean Neighborhood Environment for our children's and family "
  • Trulia User

"It’s fine. Not to hard to get around with or without a vehicle. A very walkable neighborhood with decently nice neighbors."
  • Demarcus C.
"It has ease of access to public transportation and to local highways. Take about 20-45 mins to get down town."
  • LaTonya J.
"Dogs are always welcome in the neighborhood and most have mannerism. Both small dogs and large live in this neighborhood "
  • Michael
"This neighborhood is changing from what it was be patient soon it will be a neighborhood where our children can come out to play but as for know be patient and hold on for a little while longer "
  • 2x D.
"Real Nice big houses that come with big rats. Avoid parkway. City Trying to change the neighborhood around good luck "
  • Mary A. D. W.
"Im sure they would find it quite nice considering Washington Park is very near by. Maybe not for night time walks as it gets pretty loud with gun violence at that time of day."
  • Mary A. D. W.
"Easy access to public transit. Green Line, Bus Routes 3, 4, 63rd and 59th. Close to Washington Park, Jewel on 61st and Cottage and University of Chicago Hospital. Downside: Plenty of Gun Violence and drug activity"
  • 1annettejordan
"Lots of choices to get to work - several bus and train routes. Also an easy 10 minute drive to downtown."
  • Mary A. D. W.
"it's dangerous at night and sometimes in the day. my children were robbed twice in broad daylight. police presence is high but is a non factor when it comes to safety."
  • Mary A. D. W.
"I'll put it like this I just got done hearing pump action type gun shots at 8:00 pm. A sound that is pretty normal for this area. This neighborhood is no good for kids in my opinion. In a square 4 block radius from Eberhart to Prairie."
  • Patrice
"The area is a mix of families. Kids play outside and people care for their yards. There are some streets were the buildings are abandoned but that’s changing too. I think there’s room for improvement n"
  • Patrice
"I have lived here for the last 2 years. It’s changing for the better. There’s more businesses and a grocery store in walking distance. "
  • Andrea H.
"Great transportation to the green line, the cottage grove bus is right up the street than the red line, also you can go down by stony island and get all the buses to go down town as well. "
  • Godsgirlst
"None. I haven’t seen a block club or anything. It’s crime ridden and drug infested. No sense of community what so ever. I can’t wait to move away from here. "
  • Bianca T.
"Kind of a rough neighborhood but it is up and coming. Lived here for 2 years with no major problems."
  • Patrice
"There’s YWCA in the neighborhood and a library in walking distance. I don’t let my daughter play outside but we can walk to the park or drive to the lake. "
  • Mrs M. W.
"Please do not move here. You can move into the Hyde Park or Bronzeville area but not here. The quietness in the day is very, very deceiving. "
  • Beabeckford
"Yes. Lots of dog owners in this area. No dog park, but Washington Park is really close and Jackson Bark is not to far. "
  • Mrs M. W.
"Washington Park is near by but it is not safe to let your children be unattended in the area or out late nights because there are random shootings that happen close by. "
  • Mrs M. W.
"Pro's: Right on 59th street, King Drive and Cottage Grove bus routes and the Green Line train. Con's: High gun violence, drug activity, chances of being robbed. "
  • Flemingirma555
"I have heard this on the news six shooting last week I will not be able to stay here for a year I have grand children that visit me. "
  • Sefthex1972
"Nothing. Crime is rampant. Schools are bad. In 10 years it might be a very nice neighborhood if the University of Chicago keeps on investing. The close proximity to Hyde Park is the biggest plus for me"
  • Patrice
"It’s getting better because of development and investments. The University has brought a lot of money into the community. "
