A Storied Piece of Kalispell History

Known as the Houston/Parker House! Own a remarkable piece of Kalispell history with this 4-bedroom, 2-bath historic home, ideally situated on a desirable corner lot in the sought-after East Side neighborhood. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this distinctive residence offers character, history, and a wonderful sense of place.

According to its abstract of title, the home was moved to Kalispell from Demersville, four miles away, in 1909. By 1910, it was owned by Dr. William Taylor, a local surgeon, physician, and county coroner. In 1914, Dr. Taylor traded homes and medical practices with Whitefish physician Dr. Hugh E. Houston. Dr. Houston settled here with his three young daughters and second wife, adding the rear porch, kitchen, and dining room. A downstairs bedroom served as his medical office.

In 1927, William Parker purchased the home and gave it to his beloved wife, Mable, as a Christmas present. A world traveler and refinery builder, Parker had come to Kalispell in 1921. The home later passed through the Parker family and ultimately to their granddaughter, who retained ownership into the twenty-first century.

Narrow clapboard siding, graceful Tuscan columns, and distinctive twin-gabled dormers give the home its unmistakable historic character. Set on a prominent corner lot among vintage homes, it offers a rare opportunity to own not just a residence, but a meaningful piece of Kalispell’s story. Please use showingtime.
